Re: Spiders & bots to add to phpbb3

As mentioned, there are other bots like this. I think it's still useful to see who's hitting your site with bot software. Unless the user renames the user agent, there's not much else to go by other than the default name. With libraries you don't know if it's bot or human for sure, and there is no ...

So are Java, Indy Library, Wget and others...
I've not looked at the rest of the list, I'd remove those if that's the case.

Re: Spiders & bots to add to phpbb3

Just caught up with this topic. I think that each page visited by a bot will result in a table lookup to see if the visitor is a bot. Each page visit where the visitor doesn't have a valid session id, ie they need a new session. If bots are assigned sessions, this lookup would only be for the first ...

Can you just tell me HONESTLY - can spammers do that on phpBB 2.0 (or was it a glitch) - if they CAN, I will then upgrade to 3.0.
It's not a known flaw.

Re: [split] 3.0.x cross platform in theory not practice?

Although it appears getting phpBB included as an available app was a goal of the developers who attended the Microsoft camp there has yet to be any clarification on whether such installations will be officially supported or whether they will be treated the same as third party installs ( I suspect t...

Re: Does switching to vbulletin double search engine traffic

Personally I'd prefer a company to use free software. Not just for their forum, but also Linux, OOo, etc. That reduces the overall spending of the company resulting in cheaper products for me to buy. ;) Really? Switching away from the Microsoft Windows/Office norm incurs additional costs, training ...

Not me and I'm short sighted.
You must not be that short-sighted if you won't wear your glasses while watching TV.
I need glasses to watch TV but I dislike wearing glasses to watch TV.

Re: World Cup - South Africa 2010

Having said that, terrible refereeing from Webb on this one. The first yellow cards were quite deserved for the Netherlands but those afterwards were totally not. 14 yellow and 1 red card, unbelievable. Sure the refereeing wasn't great at times, but the players didn't exactly make it a straight for...
