Re: Best way to merge Db and phpbb?

By "table version" I assume you mean subsilver2. There are currently no plans to not support it in future versions, but in any event, changing a style is pretty easy, depending on how much you have modified it. I've heard that for a while now. So what about all the previous owners of subsilver, the...

Re: Best way to merge Db and phpbb?

You would have to ask in the support area for whatever mod that might be. Ok, thanks. Oh, one other question. I currently have the table version theme for phpbb. Should I go with the other non table theme version, or is the table version themes going to be around for a while... i always thought tha...

Re: With all the NSA intrusion coming out, is there a way to

you are missing the point. if they want to see what is on your board they simply have to visit it. if you encrypt the database it won't stop it from showing on the board. besides , I would imagine that if they get anything like this going it won't help if you had the databse or anything else encryp...

Re: Best way to merge Db and phpbb?

When you browse to /install/database_update.php it will upgrade your database to whatever version the files are. If your mods have any database updates, you would have to do those updates. Ok. Thanks. Now I may be going backwards on one mod. I installed a mod that was never blessed by the good peop...

Best way to merge Db and phpbb?

I have an older version of phpbb, and quite a few mods. I will be installing the new version of phpbb locally with virtual server to get it all up and running before live migration. Here is the problem I am facing. Some of the mods have been updated, so I will simply be installing the newest version...

Well, in some aspects it would be for support of phpBB. Since phpbb uses the DB...

Re: With all the NSA intrusion coming out, is there a way to

What purpose would encrypting the database serve, when the data is displayed on the internet page unencrypted? From scavage mining, mass data dumps, etc. from providers giving access to servers. Plus, some boards may not be privy to most. I have nothing to hide, but unwelcomed intrusion, no matter ...

Re: Re-doing template and updating PHPBB on stand alone - MY

You have not said what mods you are working with, and whether you are using automod. If you are not using automod, you should be able to simply copy up all of your files from your test server, except config.php, and overwrite what you have online. Then you can re-run any database updating scripts t...

Re: Re-doing template and updating PHPBB on stand alone - MY

Well then how would you go about this? Should I just get the new template going, and once that is done, upload the template (with mods, etc.) to the server, and then if I need to do updates on the mods and the update on the phpbb software itself shut the site down for maintenance and then make those...

Maybe I am confused then. What exactly gets stored on the live DB? Does the phpbb upgrade make DB changes? Are posts, etc. stored on the DB? Maybe that is my confusion. Thanks!

Re-doing template and updating PHPBB on stand alone - MYSQL

I have a question. I am in the process of chaning out the template, adding the mods to the new template, updating phpbb, etc. but will so on my standalone to make sure everything works before uploading to the server. I have made complete backups of the forum and the entire database. Here is my quest...

Re: Changin template - way for Admin to see changes???

No. However, what many people do for such development work is to set up a local copy of the board to experiment with changes and MODs on, see Installing and Setting Up Your Own Web Server . Thanks. I have done that before in the past. Was kind of a pain in the arse... may try doing that again and t...
