Re: allow url fopen, what's that all about?

When enabled, allow_url_fopen allows PHP scripts to access remote locations and retrieve data from there. This is a potential security risk and many hosts disable this function by default. However, most of them allow enabling this function by editing your php.ini for example. If you host allows cust...

Re: phpbb3 Error 500: Internal Server Error?

Check your web server error logs for the exact reason for the error. It is definitely something related to your hosting server (probably permissions) and you need to know the exact error in order to fix it.

Re: Can't connect to local MySQL server error.

Check your PHP error log or ask your host to check it for you. The reason for the blank page should be listed there.

Re: [split] I lost my pictures and avatar after up grading,

The images are located in the images folder inside your phpBB directory. Most probably the reason for the issue is incorrect permissions of that folder.

More information about the correct permissions can be found here.

Ask your host to run the query for you. If phpMyAdmin times out, they can run it directly through the mysql console.

Re: getaddrinfo failed

The error Temporary failure in name resolution means that the DNS server cannot resolve the domain properly. This is most probably a problem on your host server.

Re: confirm email after email address change

Go to your Administration Control Panel > User registration settings and next to Account activation click By User.

Save the change and from now on every new user will have to click a link sent to his/her email before the forum account becomes active.

Re: Can't log in..

A search in the forum would have answered your question ;)

Anyway... Try using localhost as Cookie domain to fix your localhost cookie issue.

If this does not help, try the Auto Cookies option available in the Support Toolkit.

If you haven't provided your friend with FTP access to your main directory, or you haven't set his phpBB MySQL configuration to run with a master MySQL account that has access to all your databases, you should be OK.

Re: stuck after database restore

Your forum seems to be working properly, but the blank page indicates a possible problem, probably due to a timeout or some PHP error.

Check your error logs for any error messages, there you should see the reason for the blank page.
