Re: joomla login insteed of phpbb

Are you using a bridge component such as JFusion? Because if configured properly, this component usually works OK.

Why don't you tell us more about your forum by filling the support template so that we can see if we can be of any help :)

Re: Is an SSL cert required , and best way to secure user da

You are right, most forums don't use SSL certificates. This is because forums are usually a place for open discussions and do not work with very sensitive information (such as credit card details). So, if an SSL certificate is a must for an online shop, this is not the case with a forum. Another imp...

Re: How do I reinstall phpbb3 and keep users and posts.

If some one could tell me the name and location of the file that contains the pictures that I and my users uploaded with our posts I could just upload new pics with the same file names.
As t_backoff said, you need to preserve the files/ and images/ folders. Your pictures are in the images/ folder.

Re: New User, bunch of questions...

If Allow username changes is set to Yes, your forum members will be able to change their usernames from User Control Panel > Profile tab > Edit account settings > Username username field.

If this does not work, we'll need more information about your forum so that we can try to help you.

Re: Changing to a new domain problem, interlinking to old do

You can try replacing OLDdomain.com with NEWdomain.com directly in the database. To do this, you should: 1. First and foremost, an absolutely vital step - back up your phpBB database . This way you can restore your forum if something goes wrong in the next step. 2. Run the following SQL query: updat...

Re: How to activate: allow_url_fopen = On

For such issues it is best to contact your host because they know their PHP setup and should be able to provide exact instructions on how to modify a PHP setting. Anyway, if I had to take a guess, I'd say that you have not placed the php.ini file in the correct folder. In most PHP setups, php.ini fi...

Re: Can enabling flash be a security issue?

Nowadays everything can be an issue. However, this does not mean that you should skip on something you like and want only because of it being an issue in any way.

You should be OK as long as you back up your forum regularly and keep it up to date.

Re: forum's Title visible when not login

You need to give your guests the permission to read posts. This can be done from the phpBB admin area > Permissions tab.

More about phpBB permissions can be found at http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/phpbb3-permissions/.

Re: PHPBB Warning

If one file is missing, chances are that other files are missing as well. It would be best to reupload all phpBB files to make sure all files are in place.

The above settings should be enough for a small forum without many mods. As your forum grows, so will its requirements and at some point you may need to increase these limits.

Re: Mass Mail Error!!!

If your host allows it, you can try increasing the memory limit PHP scripts can use. This can be done by creating a php.ini file and putting the following code in it: memory_limit = 64M This will set your PHP memory_limit to 64Mb (your current limit is 32Mb). Not all hosts allow this setting to be m...

Re: error sending mass email

Configure your forum to use SMTP. You can do this from the admin area > E-mail settings > SMTP settings.

Fill in all the details using a real email address. You may need to contact your host if you don't know all the details.
