I am trying to figure out if there is a mod already out there to add checkboxes to the functionality of adding custom profile fields on phpBB3, or a comprehensive guide..... ( before i wing it on my forum on my own ).

Thats a simple modification to the overall_header file on your template....more html than anything else.
