Re: Knock off Nigel campaign.

IMO p2p software is not the issue, I use ktorrent to get distros of linux and such. Also, just because they are "Downloading Vast amounts of data" doesnt mean they are downloading pirated software. Some downloads are like 4GBs long. they would have to violate the users privacy rights to kn...

Re: Wii controllers to be banned in the US

That is outrageous. Total lunacy. Why would anyone put a pattent on something they havent even built yet? This just shows how flawed the system is, and why i love open source so much....... If they had a site, i would DDoS it. This pisses me off to an extreme level.

Re: The All-in-one Techie thread

Hmmmm, ran into a really wierd problem reinstalling linux and windows. I got a new HDD, and after that i decided to reinstall both O.S., one in each drive. So check this out, they are both sata, and for some reason linux read them in raid. Since its easier to install windows first then linux later, ...

Re: The All-in-one Techie thread

Other than debian based apt-get and apt-update what things does Ubuntu have on other distros? Lets say, specially Opensuse? The new Yast interface is pretty sick and does things very simple. I am trully interested as to what sets ubuntu above every other linux distro in the market now a days.

Re: The All-in-one Techie thread

For some reason Ubuntu never appealed to me. I have tried Kubuntu, Ubuntu and Xubuntu....but i just didnt really like it. Partially because the 64bit DVDs arent avialable that easily. I started off with mandriva, i used Fedora for a bit, but didnt like it at all, and Gentoo...which i used for a whil...

The All-in-one Techie thread

Well, from what i saw in the July 2008 Desktop Showcase thread, it was getting way off topic So instead of waiting for it to get closed or me getting a warning, ill just go ahead and make this thread instead. We discussed Linux vs Unix (Mac) Server solutions, and Linux Distros in there. So i guess w...

Re: July 2008 Desktop Showcase

A little offtopic but i just got done watching Pirates of the Silicon Valley....i love that damn movie. and BTW recommend it to anyone that is computer inclined.
Also, Anti-trust a really cool movie that would appeal to open source programmers. and OFC the movie Hackers which is a classic.

Re: July 2008 Desktop Showcase

A mac server? even if mac is based on unix now a days, i fail to see how it would perform better than linux server solutions. As far as desktop solutions go, I used to run the bane of society ( windows ) even tho i always knew the light, finally i found a linux desktop that made me happy, and i stuc...

Re: July 2008 Desktop Showcase

Btw @ Highway of Life, The funny thing about being sarcasting on a BB board is that the nature of it is flawed as a lot of other variables usually need to be taken into account, such as Facial Expressions and tone of voice :).....At least i hope you were being sarcastic :P

Re: July 2008 Desktop Showcase

Hmmmm, OpenSuse has been great so far. I have Fedora Core 9, Mandriva 2008, Kubuntu and Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, Gentoo, and a few others, and so far i like OpenSuse the best. I also run Backtrack linux but no screenies of that :)
