Re: SQL queries for changing user permission in all forums

I checked the ACP for like 10 minutes and still couldn't figure out how to do that (achieve that guests, users, newly registered user... can just read forums without me making changes to all my forums).

SQL queries for changing user permission in all forums

I have a lot of forums and would like to temporary change the permissions for all types of users and guests (except moderators and admins) so that they can just read topics, but not open a new thread or reply to one. I'd really really appreciate if someone more knowlegeable could tell me the right S...

Re: +500 forums = overheated forums table?

I maintain a board with approximately 500 forums and it is on a regular shared hosting account. There have not been any problems with the basic running of the board. The only problems there have been is when moving forums around. Sometimes when moving a forum, it can make a mess of the forum tree a...

MySQL connection collation?

When creating a new database in phpmyadmin I use "MySQL charset UTF-8 Unicode (utf8"), but there is also a field for "MySQL connection collation". Shall I use utf8_unicode_ci, utf8_general_ci, utf8_bin or leave it empty (if possible)? MySQL client version ist 5.0.5, it's a german...

MySQL upgrader question

I had a problem which I thought was related to this KB article Doesn't have a default value errors and used the MySQL upgrader from the STK in order to solve it (of course I made a backup of my database). I could fix the problem in the end, but it turned out that it had likely nothing to do with usi...

Long session length

At one of the forums I work on I see the session lengh used is 43200 sec (12 hours). I guess that's definitly too long and I will reduce it to like 60-90 minutes. I just wondered if the half day session length might be the reason (or one of them) that the forum is pretty slow? Does that put a lot of...

Is "post_text should be mediumtext utf8_bin" also correct for German boards? Just want to be sure, thanks!

Re: SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ] - Incorrect string value

Does the limitation discussed in that thread still exist with phpBB 3.0.8 or 3.0.9 and might be the reason? Does the MySQLUpgrader solve the problem or is the mentioned work-around the "solution"? Shall I use UTF8mb4? uft8_bin? utf8_general_ci? utf8_unicode_ci? *really confused*
