Re: sql error mysql40 : too many connections 4040

When it happens run this query:

show processlist

Note the total number of connections, compare to your limit. Note if queries are waiting for a lock on a particular table.

Re: [Discuss] phpBB 3.1 "Ascraeus" to require PHP 5.3.3

The minimum version requirement is such that most hosts should have no issues updating to it when their customers ask for it, if they aren't already at that version.

Re: memory limits with phpBB3

Vanilla phpbb is not a resource hog. If you have no modifications installed and your host is asking you for "proof" that phpbb is a resource hog, you really should consider a different host. Most likely either your current host cannot actually host anything or they are not being honest with you.

Re: DB Table 'overhead' and deleted topics.

Database overhead does not affect the size of dumps as it only exists in internal database structures.

If you are backing up data for its content as opposed to performing a system-wide backup of everything, you should always dump databases instead of backing up their raw files.

Re: board slowness, timeouts

If your board was normal and all of a sudden became as slow as it is right now, ask your host to investigate.

Re: Persistent Database Connections (MySQLi)

1. It is my estimate that persistent connections in most configurations don't gain much. 2. It is my impression that most programs don't use persistent connections. Therefore there is higher probability of bugs when persistent connections are used. I would guess that persistent connections are used ...

Re: Mass Deleting Users with Multiple Tabs.

http://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-9369 You can attempt the patch there, but it is in my opinion unfinished, not guaranteed to work correctly and possibly dangerous. Use it at your own risk. Re: Persistent Database Connections (MySQLi)

To open a persistent connection you must prepend p: to the hostname when connecting.
http://php.net/manual/en/mysqli.persistconns.php

This is also in the code of mysqli connect method in dbal.

That looks like a php crash. Try another version of php. Especially if you're on 5.3 try 5.4 and vice versa.

Re: Whois Function Not Working?

Please describe your problem. The "Whois" fuction in the "Who Is Online" section often does not always return info. There are no errors, just that no data is returned. Please post a screenshot of that and also which IP you are trying to use it on. In phpBB/includes/functions_user.php find: function...

Likely. If you keep getting that message dumped in the logs try the fix posted in the ticket.

I expected the variable sets to be missing in the beginning but they are not. Don't know what the issue is.

Please report these either to the author of whichever modification added the queries (via customization database) or phpbb bug tracker for queries that are part of phpbb.

Re: Converting from PHPBB v2 to PHPBB v3 - not all data movi

It looks like your web server or php is closing the connection before the process completes.

1. Check apache error log.

2. Try another distribution such as wamp/xampp/etc.

3. If you have any firewall software, disable/uninstall it.
