Re: Securing forum with https

Here is the full .htaccess file: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on RewriteRule ^/?(.*) https://www.layer-3.org/$1 [R,L] <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on # # Uncomment the statement below if URL rewriting doesn't # work properly. If you installed phpBB in a subdirectory # of your si...

Re: Securing forum with https

Thanks guys. The SSL cert came from cPanel/WHM - it was a built in service. Can someone please post the correct .htaccess rewrite as that seems to be causing all of the problems. I know the URL works, but for the n'th time it is when you try to login there is a problem. I cant login as Admin to chan...

Re: Securing forum with https

This is what I'm trying to ascertain.

But it seems to be an exercise in shifting blame here.

Can you tell me how to check please.

Re: Securing forum with https

Well here we are again - utterly useless on both accounts. Hosting people are blaming the software. Software developers are blaming the server. And yet, we still cant log in to the forum. No chance of https then with phpBB.      This site can’t be reached burmabo...

Re: Securing forum with https

OK - just registered a test account: user - testing pw - test123 The host, as usual, say it is a software problem, contact the developers. Just to recap here is what I have done: Install SSL certs on server Test that they're active (link above) Set phpBB force server url setting to yes Set phpBB set...

Re: Securing forum with https

That isnt the problem - logging in is.

We cant log in to the forum.

It only works without the .htaccess rewrite code.

Re: Securing forum with https

If I add the .htaccess rewrite I cant login - I get the "site unreachable" error.

I have done it now - can you please try and register or login?

Re: Securing forum with https

Its not as simple as that evidently. Caches cleared and we're still getting errors.

Re: Securing forum with https

Trying this on another smaller forum. Ok - done all that - but as before I cannot login and get a 'site unreachable' error. Also this still shows in Firefox: burma.jpg SSL checker says all is good server side so it must be a phpBB config problem: https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html#hostname=...

Re: Securing forum with https

Thanks for the quick reply - here are screenshots for the settings, so no - nothing setup yet.

I do remember trying this before and it messed everything up and nobody could login so we had to disable it again.

Can you let us know what to do to fix it. Cheers.

Securing forum with https

I notice this board is https and has a green secure marker in Chrome.

I would like the same for my own forum as even with https it still does not show as 'secure'.

I have installed the SSL certificates on the server for the domain so what are the next steps?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Best/easiest way to downgrade to previous version after failed upgrade

The one topic you've linked to has a user that hasn't come back for 2 weeks so the assumption is they got it to work. Or they did what I did and went back to a previous version that did work. Yes, I had backups - without them this "upgrade" would have destroyed ten years of forum. This fo...

Re: Multiple DB errors updating to 3.2.2

As stated multiple times before I did update with the correct procedures, I've done it hundreds of times before. I updated two other smaller forums before attempting the larger one. I figured I would get a solution to a specific phpBB coding error message on the official support forum, guess I figur...

Re: Best/easiest way to downgrade to previous version after failed upgrade

I must have cleared that cache and store folder at least 18 times. If it was as simple as that all the other people wouldn't have had the same issue (and most of their threads remain unresolved too). I used different browsers and machines, and reinstalled using 3.2.2 auto update - 3.2.2 full package...
