Re: Editing Banner, etc..., how?

All you need is a plain text editor (I personally recommend Notepad++) and edit the appropriate file. If you want to edit the header that displays on every page you can edit styles/style-name-here/template/overall_header.html

Re: problem at my forum

Hi and welcome.

We would love to help but we need more information. Did you get an error message? When did this happen? Were you updating or installing a MOD? Please elaborate and fill this out: Support Request Template. Thanks. :)

Re: critical error site is down sql problem

Did you just get the error? If so you need to ask your host to fix the problem so send them the error message.

Re: Web Standards and editing mark up and css

Hi and welcome. :) phpBB's proSilver and subSilver2 styles are already web standards compliant. And you can easily edit the CSS and XHTML to change it as you like. You just need to edit the appropriate file in the styles/prosilver directory. And phpBB doesn't have friendly URL support out of the box...

Re: Forum rules

If you dropped the sid part then that means that cookies aren't working right. Are the cookie settings in the ACP -> General set to automatic or manual?

Re: Cannot post topics

Do you have access to your server's error logs? If so can you try to get a white page/blank page then post the last 20 or so lines of the error log? There's an error somewhere.

Did you get the backup file through phpBB or phpMyAdmin? Also can you post the entire error message?

Re: Can't post new topics after upgrading to 3.0.4

A blank page means that there's an error somewhere but error messages have been turned off by your host. Can you try making a new topic again then immediately check the server error log? (Ask your host if you don't know where it is.) Then post the last 20 or so lines of it for us to look at. Thanks!

Re: Email between users

Actually you don't need to change any files. All you need to do is go to the ACP -> General and fill in your site's name and description in the right boxes. Then the email will show the right text.

Re: Change forum display

You can always manually tweak the CSS to change colours, fonts, etc. for a different look without using a new style.

Re: Flash Banner

The simple answer is that you put it in styles/your style name here/template/overall_header.tpl If you don't know where though to put it tell us what style you are using and where you want the Flash.

Re: Fresh install issues

Hi and welcome.

Can you check your permissions and see if you can create new topics? Go to the ACP -> Permissions -> Forum permissions -> select forum(s) -> select group(s) and click Edit permissions -> select the Post tab and make sure that "Can start new topics" is set to Yes.

Re: on google?

You don't need to do that because Google is looking for real content not keywords. However if you still want to, you would need to edit styles/prosilver/template/overall_header.tpl with a plain text editor like Notepad.
