"MySQL server has gone away [2006]" is a problem with the server not having enough resources. You will need to contact your host to resolve the issue. See MySQL server has gone away for some tips. That can be attributed to a number of variables beyond phpBB. Actually installing phpBB with prior server setup and knowledge is a breeze. ;)

Anyway, I am going to bed. If you get to this. Upload a fresh copy of the install folder from a fresh package and then point your browser to http://www.yoursite.com/install/database_update.php. That will ensure your database has been updated. If that doesn't work.... Upload all new files from a down...

Posting it would be a great start then. ;)

Edit: It appears e107 is a CMS. I think this would be more a MOD Request. What your asking would take a bit of intergration between the two softwares.

Was your previous board an outdated version of phpBB? Ex. 3.0.6 etc
