Cookie Settings

I am being very thick here but I have a local server set up on my internal network for testing purposes for phpBB and I cannot figure out how to set the cookies correctly. When I am using another internal computer to access the forum I use a http://ServerName/dir1/phpbb/ url to access it and on the ...

Re: switch to phpbb forum without converting

Since your existing forum only has 3 existing members and 4 posts, 2 of which seem to news items which presumably were copied from elsewhere, I would have thought it would be far quicker to set up the phpBB forum and then ask your existing Users to re-register on the new forum and copy and paste the...

Re: build a web site with a forum

No you do not have to use a CMS, it can be done with HTML, PHP or any other language capable of building a web site page.

Re: Users viewing their own threads only?

One of the other guys on here suggested this Mod (http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/topic_author_reply_only/) maybe what you want. The problem is it is for version 3.0.5, so you would have make sure that you backed up your files before you tried it. It appears to do what you want from your descr...

Re: Users viewing their own threads only?

As permissions are Forum based not Topic based this would not be possible unless you are prepared to create a Forum for every user.

Your only possibility is that there is a Mod that does this.

Re: Idea to stop spam definitevelly (I think easy to impleme

That's not logical because in your original post you were asking to change the name of registration code so it could not be found by spam bots, not because you didn't want people to register. Since all forums (who have any sense) require people to register before they can post why would they be able...

Re: Delete user posts

Apologies of course they do doh!! But it is still a daunting task if there are a lot of them and if you remember the User you deleted. Still probably quicker once you have identified a post to look it up with SQL and then delete all posts using the same user id with SQL then deleting them individual...

Re: Delete user posts

I was going to mention that but you will have to do that with SQL (probably best to use phpMyAdmin), and you will need to remember each user you deleted or the Topic they posted in in order to get the correct User Number to run the SQL Query to delete the posts. If you have been doing this for a whi...

Re: Delete user posts

This is because by deleting the User alone you are loosing the ability of the database to find the posts associated with the user. If you want to delete the user and the posts you should do it all at once. Select the user in Manage User page and when the User appears in the Delete User section click...

Re: Can a user create a personal thread?

Permissions are not applied at the topic level so this is not possible. You could set up a Forum for the user and set the permissions there, but presumably this would mean setting up a Forum for every user to implement this as a board feature, which would be an onorouus task. Only other way is to se...

Re: "Ban emails" function not working

Existing users are not effected by the ban emails function, as this is only invoked as a person registers not as they login with a validated account. A person logging in is checked against the database as having an active user account and if they do they are logged on. You will have to get admin to ...

So did you edit the subsilver2 stylesheet.css and not the prosilver one by accident?

Re: Forum centered in IE 8 and 9

OK but your style is not the default prosilver or subsilver2 so did you edit the right stylesheet.css file for the style?
