Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Classic profile spam bot :) We could log the content I suppose for a cheap thrill.

The honeypot clears these users out really fast, I have pages and pages of them, none are legit. Same with the signature honeypot and the too many links honeypot.

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

These are HEX number ranges. 3000-8FFF already includes 3100-312F, so it need not be included twice. My recommendation is to use the whole REGEX like this: /([\x{0400}-\x{04FF}]|[\x{0600}-\x{06FF}]|[\x{3000}-\x{8FFF}])+/u / / encapsulate the regex search string u tell it we are using unicode charact...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

What they changed so it can work was their email to. dongylimited @ live .com Thanks for the report. I've never had this type of spam, it seems like it would need an email filter instead. If this is human spam it will be particularly hard to defeat it. .com should have still triggered the filter. I...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

You can search the characters here:
http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode ... iew=entity

These are Han character, and you could block it with range of the characters [\x{3000}-\x{8FFF}]

/([\x{0400}-\x{04FF}]|[\x{0600}-\x{06FF}]|[\x{3000}-\x{8FFF}])+/u

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Did the whitelist work?

You can add those characters to the unicode range and it should filter them out too.

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

I thought so yes, but it looks like it doesn't matter (or he added a whitelist):

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Thanks Victory1. Where does that code go? Is is immediately before the filter? All it does is append a tag to the post. Looking at what it does, and his example above, I see no reason it should trigger the filter. If it is a local link, it should not trigger the filter. heredia21 - does it show an e...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Thanks for the report. The WWW or no WWW thing is part of the original disable links MOD. It uses a PHP variable to get the name of the local server (will return mobile.mysite.com for example) and another to match the protocol (http://, https://, etc). It does not recognize other sub domain variants...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

New users posting from mobile site are getting this.
No idea, I have not looked at the mobile MOD and don't know how it works. If it is phpBB mobile theme, I plan to install when it is official and then I'll take a look at the bugs.

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Thanks Philthy, thanks especially for being on top of the changes and making the package possible. It wouldn't happen without you! Setting that variable to false will stop showing the trigger word to the user. We could add the option to set it in the ACP if you like. The reason I have not done so is...

and at first I thought it was simply an approved guest post... but then once last night and twice today now, I've noticed what seems to be 15-20 messages like the above over the course of a 5 minute period. There are no posts in the forum that match these time periods, either... It also logs the pr...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Checked in class vr751: *fixes to extreme mode *fixes to extreme mode logging *if you only include site.com in URL whitelists it should be OK with http://site.com and site.com I fixed the whitelistsite.com/http://whitelistsite.com issue by changing the order of the search and replace operations.
