How did you try to install it? With automod or manually editing your files? I'd highly recommend you read the wiki and then manually mod the files. I find it a wonder that automod works at all :)

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Thanks! I updated the SVN with R745. It has extreme features, but they are disabled unless you set var extreme=true; in the class. It also has some minor fixes to logging for account pruning. Should be a drop-in upgrade for anyone with 0.0.2 installed. I updated the top post, I also updated my previ...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

The logging really turned me onto the patterns the bots follow. Register. Hit profile twice. Hit signature twice. Try to post all over. Lots of stuff too, more than I ever imagined. Lots must have been kept out by our previous spambot prevention. No wonder our hosting bill is so high. This is a fun"...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Minor cleanup: *changed error log display *moved user filter messages to user log *user purge messages are still in admin log 99% tested, probably the final version. <?php /** * * functions_link_filter.php version r743 * @license http://opensource.org/licenses/gpl-license.php GNU Public License * Mo...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

I tried to pull in all the requested features and bug fixes at once. The class below is updated and the wiki has updated install instructions. The logging is really interesting. You can see who is a bot and who is a real person fighting with the filter. The automated profile post is obvious in the d...

Re: [DEV] phpBB spam hammer

Thanks for the great feedback! Found some bugs, an updated class is at the end of this post, or you can get the latest version from SVN . --- 1: The sql insertion entered the fields in the database, but not the values. I simply entered them manually from the admin panel. In my experience they do get...

Hi heredia21,

Which 'version' of the mod, and how was it installed (auto or manual)?

Re: [RC] Disable links for new users & guests

Thank you so much for the package. I started a new thread here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=2122138&p=12958498#p12958498 There are several extra ACP options I'd like to add, but it is annoying to edit the files manually. I'll clear out my mod, add the updates directly to the ...

Re: [RC] Disable links for new users & guests

Thanks John, lots of great info there. The registration justification is interesting. I also used anti-spam fields, but usually "are you a spammer" thinking the scripts wouldn't fill it and get bounced (the stupidest ones anyways). I have never looked to see what they were filling it with, that is v...

Re: [RC] Disable links for new users & guests

Thanks for the feedback on my changes. I'll try to explain some of the features and my decisions. Please share any other thoughts you have, I'm operating from my experience alone, and it's great to understand the issues facing other forum admins. I'm wondering if the 'account delete' portion shouldn...

Re: [RC] Disable links for new users & guests

Thank you. I updated these items. I also fixed the spelling in the code on the wiki in one place and in the class. Specifically in ucp_profile.php : if($f->link_filter_test_signature($signature))//run the check And the corresponding function in the class. Google Code is down so I cannot commit the l...

Re: [RC] Disable links for new users & guests

I added the list of edits to a wiki - the link is in the header of the class. It was easier than doing it in the forum and quicker to update. I thought links were against site policy so I was hesitant to put it in my post, but here it is: http://dangerousprototypes.com/docs/PhpBB3_MOD:_Disable_links...

Re: [RC] Disable links for new users & guests

Some scripts are so stupid they don't know they have no signature spam and post little "ego posts" anyways (Nice post, thanks for sharing.. It informs me better..) I added a minor feature that requires the first post to be X characters or longer. In the long run this is could lead to longer first po...
