Re: Index Pages Loading Very Slow

That forum has 483,609 users according to the stats. If there's no index on user_flag , MySQL will read the entire users table whether they have a flag set or not. I'm not sure it's worth adding an index if that's the only page that would use it. IMO just cache that query for a day and never think a...

Re: Shortcode for Discog

The issue is this. Discogs uses links like this one: https://img.discogs.com/UwGIE_SBdlVUpgFxoFxfMc5E4Io=/fit-in/600x601/filters:strip_icc():format(jpeg):mode_rgb():quality(90)/discogs-images/R-727363-1465323262-6330.jpeg.jpg If you post it, some of the reserved characters get percent-encoded and th...

I muted you but I still get notifications. Anyway, I'll just unsubscribe and stop reading this forum.

I don't think your plan to annoy people into working for you will work great but hey, you can keep trying I guess.

Re: WYSIWYG editor and phpBB

I am sure that if at least 2 developers work on it and really want make it happen they will nail it. I am 100% of it as well. Just have to go ahead and hire them. Go ahead. Unless of course, you're all talk and you think if you bother people long enough you'll get what you want. Now if you don't ha...

Re: WYSIWYG editor and phpBB

You don't have to write any code at all. Just raise the funds to hire someone to do it. If it's not that difficult, you should be able to raise whatever money it takes to make it happen.

I think you are exaggerating situation and other developers who see that kind of posts without beginning work, just give up.
Then prove me wrong and do it. Either it's difficult and that's why it's not happening, or it's not difficult and you have no excuse for not making it happen.

Re: WYSIWYG editor and phpBB

why this is not happening in phpbb. Because it would take about 100 hours of work to get the most basic version of a rich text editor into the codebase. It's easy to test it too: just go to any kind of rent-a-coder or freelancer site and see how much it would cost to implement. Then raise the funds...

Re: WYSIWYG editor and phpBB

The simple truth is this: creating a new text editor requires a staggering amount of work. CKEditor 5 's repository received 36,497 commits in 6 years. Implementing an existing editor needs less work but still requires enough maintenance to be a part-time job. That's why those extensions eventually ...

Purge it, it immediately replenishes while you’re purging.
If this is a test board and you're the only user on it, that's impossible on a clean install.

Re: 500 errors on cache purging

If you have lots of traffic then yes, it will be rebuilt very quickly, possibly too quickly for you to see what's going on. I'd try something like watch -n.2 ls -lt in shell.

Re: 500 errors on cache purging

Save the list of files in the cache? To what end? I forgot step 4. It will tell you at what point the script died because only some of the files will be there. After each reload there will be more files. If index.php doesn't produce a 500, try another page. Also, I said "memory" but it's ...

Re: 500 errors on cache purging

PHP probably runs out of memory while rebuilding the cache, or it gets interrupted by Apache. What I'd do:
  1. Clear the cache.
  2. Immediately go to index.php to get a 500 error.
  3. Save the list of files in the cache dir.

Re: Change internal topic links to their title

i.e. No different than if the post author themselves had chosen to do that. And if the post author didn't have access to the post being linked to, simply no replacement will be performed and the raw link will be included as-is. A while ago I wrote a proof of concept that does exactly that . It's ea...

Re: Best way for bbcode content parsing

You should definitely frame your issue as "input => output" otherwise it's extremely hard to figure out what you're trying to do.
