Re: "Failed to obtain latest version information"

Argh, they must have changed their rules.

Well, thank you very much for the confirmation, Noxwizard ! :)

Am I allowed to take it for granted that phpbb.com must have a feature to notify us of updates by email, somewhere ? I tried my best to find it just now, but I failed to find it ? ;)

Re: "Failed to obtain latest version information"

Thank you Noxwizard ! After a long loading time, I had that result : Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to version.phpbb.com:80 (Connection timed out) in (##local path, sorry, I can't publish it in public##)/forum/test.php on line 10 Connection timed out So, that would mean...

Re: "Failed to obtain latest version information"

About searching in the database, I meant : searching where the forum software was, itself, trying to connect to know if there's a new version. Who knows, maybe, for some reason, phpbb is trying to connect itself to a wrong URL ? (I'm running phpbb's latest, if it must be precised) I asked my host, b...

"Failed to obtain latest version information"

Hello, It's been three days, I think, that when I log into my forum's administration panel, I get the message Failed to obtain latest version information. Re-Check version · More information » And the "More information" link only gives Information Connection timed out I'm puzzled, here  - My ...

Searching for Founders ?

Hello, Because of a security problem (explained here ), I suspect my users table has been accessed and edited. (Otherwise, I don't see why my server logs showed a dozen database and database restoration accesses made through phpbb's utilities.) I'm being paranoid, but I'm asking just in case, please...

Re: Forcing users to change their password

Well, Mixstar, it takes places in a general security problem on my server. I started hosting a friend's website + forum, and neither him nor I could imagine there was already a security hole (backdoor) inside, going by the name FilesMan. Soon enough, there were malicious changes in various files to ...

Forcing users to change their password

Hello, After intensive web searches, I found that, sadly, phpbb doesn't have an option to force all members to renew their passwords immediately. I know that musn't be very useful every day, but when your forum security has been compromised (I insist : this is NOT phpbb's fault, this is NOT a liabil...

[Solved] Priviledge to edit from the inside forum files

Hello, Please, I can't find it, where is it that we may change the rights/priviledges that one or more users has to update a forum's template files ? To give you an idea, I've had a co-admin's account's log in to my board, update a template file to enter malicious code (allowing third-party code to ...

Re: Only allow POST requests on precise files ?

Not with the host (OVH, if you wonder.) In the present case, I think the problem lies with a website that I hosted that was based on old code, most likely flawed. The problem is that the backdoor made itself comfortable, and contaminated other my websites (shared hosting flaw -_-). I believe a hidde...

Only allow POST requests on precise files ?

Hello, This is NOT phpbb's fault, but there has been a security hole of some sort on my server, and now there's a backdoor running rampant. I am trying to eradicate it, but the "mother of all infections" is still hiding. I want to restrict its field of action to track it better. For some reason, thi...
