Re: Can i restrict edit profile fields for users and moderators?

No, only administrators that have the "profile" permission can change profile fields if they are restricted.

Check the permissions of the user that seems to be able to modify the profile fields (look at ther permission mask), and verify it does not have the mentioned permission.

Re: Incompatible Extensions for 3.2

Regarding Advanced Polls, it has not been updated to 3.2 yet. The part that is known to NOT work is the notifications on poll end. If you want to use it in 3.2, just follow indications in this post, and it should work WITHOUT NOTIFICATIONS: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=14726696#p1...

It's occurring when the event is triggered in the main_listener, if that's what your asking?
You are rethrowing a PHP (not phpBB) exception that nobody is catching, as far as I know...
So, sure, it is doing what you asked.

Re: Working with phpBB Exceptions

Where are you catching the second excepcion thrown?
This is the one triggering the error.

Re: How to strip bbcode from text

Thanks again! Very useful. As I recall, strip_bbcode() is only used by the search front end to display plain text. I think you are right, that is the only actual use of strip_bbcode that I remember. I want to use it for an extension I am working on, as I need to present text with bbcode parsing appl...

Re: How to strip bbcode from text

Thanks a lot Joshy. I understand that, for existing 3.1-parsed text, the uid and bitfield may be non-empty, but then, for 3.2, it is sure and safe to think that there is NO need to add two extra database columns each time you want to store a parsed text message, am I correct?. What about the actual ...

Re: How to strip bbcode from text

Does it work differently for you? Not after I removed the if($uid) . Some extra spaces, but otherwise ok, nothing unexpected, or that cannot be fixed by collapsing and trimming spaces. The question now is whether the $bbcode_uid is indeed empty always in 3.2 (coming out of generate_text_for_storage...

not returning the expected string. Can you provide the input you feed to the function, its expected output and its actual output? It is in the message you quoted (the example I was using): Input (in the form): [b]bold[/b] http://google.com After generate_text_for_storage: <r><B><s>[b]</s>bold...

Re: How to strip bbcode from text

Yes, that is what is done in strip_bbcode, I think: https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/blob/3.2.x/phpBB/includes/functions_content.php#L535 As I said, this issue was that I assumed (wrongly) that bbcode_uid would be non-empty in 3.2, and it is not. My code was: if ($bbcode_uid) { strip_bbcode($message, ...

Re: How to strip bbcode from text

I found the problem. It is not strip_bbcode itself, it is the fact that the bbcode_uid that is returned in 3.2 is empty always, regardless if there is a bbcode or not. In 3.1, the bbcode_uid could be used to identify if a post (or any other text) had bbcodes or not. Not any more... Ok, easier to cod...

Re: How to strip bbcode from text

Thanks a lot Ger, but that is what I tried, and in 3.2 gives the results above.
What I would like is to get the text without any markup.

How to strip bbcode from text

That is the question: what is the correct way to strip bbcodes from a text string, in a 3.1 AND 3.2 compatible way? I am using strip_bbcode() on the text read from the DB (ie, processed by generate_text_for_storage ) but that is not returning the expected string. Input (in the form): [b]bold[/b] :lo...

Now in the CDB, validated for 3.2 only (missing event in 3.1.10).
Support continues there.

See you!

Another alternative could be to lazy load images...
