Re: When will phpBB have a Great Visual Upgrade?

I personally never go with what I feel looks "modern" as such. If I like a style for phpbb i'll use it. The same goes when I'm looking through free HTML/CSS templates for making websites which I don't have linking directly into phpbb. (I'm not much of a designer so I can't make them on my own :( ) I...

Re: What does the following coding in search.php do?

if (sizeof($id_ary)) <-- This simply says that if anything is in $id_ary do the code between the { and } $sql_where .= $db->sql_in_set(($show_results == 'posts') ? 'p.post_id' : 't.topic_id', $id_ary); <-- Assuming above is true, this then does a check with ($show_results == 'posts') and if is also...

BBCode requiring DB access

For one of my modules I want to create a BBCode using this format: [download]{NUMBER}[/download] which would then link to the page $phpbb_root_path/downloads.php?viewfile={NUMBER} However, I want this to retrieve the name of said file from the database. So essentially, it needs to take {NUMBER} then...

Using phpBB template engine

I started a new project today for a website that i'm helping to develop. As a group we want to use a template engine and I've only every used the one from phpBB 3.0. After doing a search I found a topic here in which someone took the template engine and got it working. Does anyone know if this is st...

Re: Passing phpBB variable to PHP/MySQL code in template

Firstly, it's not very secure to add PHP code to the template html files. Your best bet is modifying the viewtopic.php file and using the $template->set_var or $template->set_vars option to send it to the HTML file, then load that into the template using the correct variable in the template. Example...

Re: Where's the Salt Stored?

If the salt is stored in the password field, then i would assume that when phpbb hashes a password (done when user registers/password changes via phpbb_hash function), then the string returned by the function is the hashed password with the salt placed on the front. What I also noticed is that the s...

Re: Why can't install Style

I think i understand.. When you uplaoded to your styles directory, if you go into the folder for that style is there another folder with the style name again before you get multiple folders/files? If so, you need to move the second folder that has the style name up to the styles/ folder so there is ...

I've also noticed from experience, that if you provide regular new content to the site, google tends to pick up on it and it can boost your rating.

[Tutorial] How to use the upload functions in phpBB

I took a little while working this out since there isn't a guide for it (that I could find) and I can't for the life of me work out how to create a wiki page (doh?) Anyway here is a small guide for when you want to upload files with phpbb without using $_FILES. Let's say for example you have an admi...

Re: Enabling an acces to the new UCP module tab for specified users only

You'll need to assign permissions for the MOD:
[wiki] This Page is the guide for creating modules, which shows where to put permission stuff,

and

[wiki] This page shows how to add permissions.

[wiki] This page might also help. It relates to the MCP but the concept is the same for UCP

Re: Link related coding in includes\acp\acp_groups.php

The line you inquired about is part of MOD writing which is why it should be in the writers section. As to your answer: adm_back_link generates a back link in the ACP (such as when you create a new forum and it then says "Forum Created. in a green box which has a link that says "Click here to return...
