Re: Board fine - mail 100% inoperative

Cheers Tony. I will now await the response to my email to hosts easyspace (iomart) regarding mail() - after 12 years with them if they can't get it together better than that they are not worth very much! The smtp thing is strange though, all my other website operations use various smtp servers with ...

Re: Board fine - mail 100% inoperative

Hi Tony My smtp servers all work well with other connections, including using some as relays for my localhost smtp QK mail server (unfortunately cannot use that with phpBB3). As regards using the mail() function, no errors are logged, the screen shows 'message sent' - but no mail is sent out despite...

Re: Board fine - mail 100% inoperative

If you are trying to use SMTP, you need to ask the support at the site you are trying to use the exact settings you should use. I thought you were trying to use PHP mail, rather than SMTP. Did you change the name of the mail function in the settings? Brf As I said earlier, the smtp settings are as ...

Re: Board fine - mail 100% inoperative

It is an issue because each host has its own idiosyncrasies concerning Email. What settings are you using, and what error message are you getting? Hi Bfr I have the board set to allow emails, and to make answering easy, I methodically tried every setting on smtp with differing smtp servers and an e...

Re: BB3 fails consistently

Assuming you are on a linux or unix based server check the permissions on the folders, see phpBB3 Chmod Permissions . Hi Oyabun1 Yes, I checked this to begin and have rechecked since your post - all files and folders are set to their correct Chmod settings. Still the same error on trying to open AN...

Re: BB3 fails consistently

How did you install the board? Did you unzip the install package locally and then upload the unzipped package to the server (unzipping on the server can cause problems) using a stand alone FTP client, such as FileZilla (file transfer utilities in host control panels can cause file corruption)? Hi, ...

Re: BB3 fails consistently

also, once you have converted from the old board the admin username and password on the old board is the one you have to use to login to the new board. Tried this - fails everything you created on the new board is now going to be gone because the conversion has overwritten it all with the data from...

BB3 fails consistently

Hi folks This issue does NOT appear to be adequately covered. I have been running the final release of BB2 all OK. I installed BB3 - disaster. It took three installation attempts to get to the OK page. Then conversion - further disaster. I attempt to log in - failed, password could not be copied, re...
