rules on blocking certain phpbb page content for bot crawls

I've noticed that in PHPBB, some text/content/links of a page are blocked for BOT accounts. The code line (<IF S_IS_BOT>) is used frequently in the template files, restricting content to bots, while allowing guests and logged in members to see). I've heavily modified my board and I'd like to know ho...

Re: listing a # of a random topics at end of viewtopic

OK, so here is my modified implementation. Again much thanks to Dugi for this code. Anyone else interested in implementing this, feel free to post your questions. Code added to viewtopic.php: Since there are gaps in topic #s on my forum, I modified the code to pull 15 random topics based on topic#, ...

Re: listing a # of a random topics at end of viewtopic

One remaining issue. In the viewtopic_body.html template file, where I am listing my random topics, I'd like to show the forum name for each topic. I tried adding forum_name to the assigned template variables (as shown below), but forum_name never transfers into the template. This probably has to do...

Re: listing a # of a random topics at end of viewtopic

Pasted in your code to viewtopic.php Executed fine, until I changed the values of $rand1 through $rand5. I have 10 test topics that range from # 370-380. When I adjust from 0,100 to 370, 380, i get a blank page when I hit viewtopic.php I tried many difference things, including plugging random #s fro...

Re: listing a # of a random topics at end of viewtopic

Thanks!
Does it matter where in viewtopic_body.php I add your code.
Is there a specific place where I should place it.
thanks again!

listing a # of a random topics at end of viewtopic

When viewing a topic. After the last post, I want to show a list of 5 random topics. I'm aware of the Similar Topics mod, however it's doesn't achieve what I'm aiming for. Can anyone guide me on the php code for this? Not sure how I can grab random or even psuedo-random topics from SQL query. From t...

how to log hits on topics, for both guests and users

I'd like to better understand how and when specific guests and logged-in users are navigating through the topics on my board. This could help me in my social media campaign. I can't seem to generate the type of report I need from Google Analytics. So I'd like to try creating a custom solution within...

No signature restrictions for admins

For registered users, I have restrictions set in the ACP, limiting signatures to 255 characters are forbidding the use of BBCODE. Is there a way to NOT apply these restrictions to Admin signatures? To get started on this, I just need to find the code where the user enters their signature. I could by...

Re: No signature restrictions for admins

I just tried this again on a clean PHPBB build.
If I disable BBCode and Smiles in signatures in the ACP.
It applies to both Admins and regular users.
I will post in the MOD forum, since it appears that I need something custom

Allow guests to view images in posts

After thoroughly setting my permissions and board settings, I've noticed guests can not view images in posts They get this message instead "Only members can view the files attached to this post." I can't seem to find the setting or permission that would allow guests to see images. I'd appreciate som...

Re: Auto-subscribe users, to only topics they start

Thanks pony, once I determined the user gets only one topic reply notification unti they visit the topic again, I became OK with notifications for both scenarios.

Re: User notified of new PM by default

Hi Simon, thank you.
But the thread you posted is related to the Thanks for the Posts MOD.
Although perhaps I can see if I can take some code from this idea
and use it to set defaults in the profile
