Piwik Analytics

Similar to the Google Analytics extension there really should be a Piwik Analytics extensions for those who want to analyse traffic without handing the data over to Google. I am not a coder, so I can only guess it should be quite simple to use the Google Analytics extension as base and adapt for the...

Re: Any URL beautifier for phpbb 3.1?

Posting pretty links by proper use of the URL BBCode is one thing, having pretty URLs for external and SEO use is another thing. I thought that human readable URLs are beneficial for search engine indexing and ranking, because the SE algo supposedly rates the wording of the domain name and the words...

Re: Migration from Vanilla Forums v2.1.x to phpBB 3.1.x?

Thanks a lot for the provided info, Robert. Unfortunately I don't have the time right now to play around with this conversion, but I'm definitely going to try it, though I'm still not sure what the best way is, because on Github in the issue I've opened concerning the CalebTheWizard converter I've b...

Re: Migration from Vanilla Forums v2.1.x to phpBB 3.1.x?

Well, there are still a few pieces of the puzzle missing. So if I have understood correctly, I first try to convert from Vanilla v2.1.x to SMF v2.0.9 using the converter from the SMF website. Then I convert from SMF to phpBB 3.0.12 (with which converter?), and at the end I can use the converter func...

Re: Migration from Vanilla Forums v2.1.x to phpBB 3.1.x?

Another hint I've been given is to try to migrate from Vanilla to SMF and from SMF to phpBB. SMF has a converter for Vanilla, but it seems to be for v2.0, so I'm not sure if that's going to work, also haven't been looking on how to migrate from SMF to phpBB v3.1.x. Quite frustrating that this seems ...

Re: Migration from Vanilla Forums v2.1.x to phpBB 3.1.x?

I have just taken a look at the Vanilla2-to-phpBB3 converter project from @CalebTheWizard on github, but it's for Vanilla 2.0.18.4 to phpBB 3.0.11 and last updated 2 years ago. I'm not a coder, so the PHP file with 1350 lines of code does not tell me anything. I could give it a try on a test install...

Migration from Vanilla Forums v2.1.x to phpBB 3.1.x?

Is there any way of migrating from Vanilla Forums v2.1.x to phpBB 3.1.x? We have nothing special in our Vanilla installation, but we are making good use of the FileUpload module, so all pictures that have been posted are self hosted, not from external sources, and we have a lot of pics. I've just di...

Re: Force HTTPS not working?

in the first place https requires a ssl certificate installed on the server. do you have that in your testing enviornment? do you have a ssl certificate? Yes, it's all installed and working properly. put it all online where it belongs and then do your tests. there is no real reason to not go ahead ...

Re: Force HTTPS not working?

Can we have a proper link to your board please? Unfortunately that's not possible right now as it's a temporary setup not accessible from the outside world, but visiting that setup there is nothing extraordinary to see. As already mentioned it can be visited by entering http://www.example.tld/forum...

Re: Force HTTPS not working?

I have no idea, what the problem could be. I just did a complete reinstall and chose the force HTTPS part during the install process, but same result, the forum is reachable through HTTP and HTTPS, but no magic takes place to force HTTPS. :(

I did that as well, but still no change. Is there any "clear cache" or refresh necessary after these changes?

Force HTTPS not working?

I just did a fresh installation of phpBB 3.0.11, the apache webserver is setup correctly for using SSL, but when I configure Force server URL settings: Yes Server protocol: https:// Server port: 80 (but I tried 443 here as well) in General >> Server Settings >> Server URL settings the forum is still...
