Re: Creating a read-only static copy of a phpBB installation

Right, I'll try to clarify what I'm aiming for again: On the http-accessed site: - Users can access and read all posts as guests with guest permissions. Users previously logged in on the https version of the site should not have their session retained or be able to post or access anything user-speci...

Re: Creating a read-only static copy of a phpBB installation

Perhaps I am missing something here - but how can you have a "static" cached copy of a dynamic board? By having a copy of all messages but none of the actual forum interactivity...? the simplest way would be to make a copy of the board in a new folder on your server. then on that copy, turn off reg...

Re: Creating a read-only static copy of a phpBB installation

No, no, that's not at all what I'm looking for.

What I want to do is have an identical copy of the forum (including styling etc.) as read-only on http. One that can be cached and is not interactive (people can't log in or post etc.).
I'm not looking for something to be an added feature to the forum.

Creating a read-only static copy of a phpBB installation

I would like to create a read-only, static copy of our phpBB 3.1.x installation to be served over plain http (and cached for quick serving). I've gone over a few potential options in my head but none of it seems easy to do or feasible. The reason for this is that I want to make the interactive forum...

[Bug] Issue with "board rules" extension.

I've been running the phpbb dev team "board rules" extension for a while without issue (across several updates of the phpBB forum software). Now I needed to make a few additions and went into the board rules for both my languages (en_us and en) to make the necessary edits, and it started doing stran...

Re: A way to inform users of their "on moderation" status?

Thanks, that would be a good workaround for the time being. I've bumped it to 30 seconds, should definitely get more people to actually read it. Best way would be to actually make pending posts visible to the ones posting it though. Issue created on the tracker: https://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPB...

Re: A way to inform users of their "on moderation" status?

Did you open a ticket in the tracker? No, since I wanted to ask the community first if there was already such a request/idea/solution. I'll do this if it's something to have a ticket for though (which seems to be the case). It's up long enough to read, but as is often the case, people don't read an...

Re: A way to inform users of their "on moderation" status?

Apparently that is not good enough because it vanishes in a few seconds, and the users are then dropped back into the forum with no evidence that their post is there/pending/etc. their post counts also remain at 0, even in the UCP. Maybe it's possible to have a "pending" post count somewhere that wo...

A way to inform users of their "on moderation" status?

Sorry if this has already been asked before, but is there a way to inform newly registered users when they make their first post that their post is going to need to be approved by staff first? or even better: is there a way for these users to actually see their own posts in a pending state? Users ar...

Re: Issue with RSS/Atom feeds (potential sec problem)

As it turns out, feeds are directly linked to being logged in or not. So, if you are logged in with moderator permissions, your feed will show unapproved posts -- but it will not be in feeds requested by people that don't have those permissions. This is rather ambiguous behavior if you'd expect feed...

Issue with RSS/Atom feeds (potential sec problem)

I noticed an issue with the RSS/Atom feeds in phpBB that has forced me to disable it. I'm not sure if it's been reported before or if someone has a workaround for it, but this is the problem: In the feeds served by phpBB 3.1, I noticed posts showing up in the board feeds that had not yet been approv...

Re: [Bug] Notifications linked to e-mail?

How can this be "by design"? it's really really pissing some of our users off that don't want to be bugged with notifications all the time when they are already getting them in e-mail. The configuration is also really bad. People can clear the checkboxes and "save" their settings, but they don't get...
