[Bug] Notifications linked to e-mail?

Some of our users have reported an issue with notification settings, and I think this is a phpBB 3.1.x bug (we recently moved over from 3.0). The problem seems to be that whenever a user sets their notifications to be e-mailed, they cannot disable the on-board notification for the same setting. This...

Re: Hooks?

Can you link to one that states they don't allow SSL? Really? Do a search. Many countries restrict the import of cryptography: e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restrictions_on_the_import_of_cryptography Others plainly use adaptive firewalls to block any encrypted traffic. Plug in "China Censorshi...

Re: Hooks?

Might want to think global, here. Plenty of (professional) environments and global regions prohibit encrypted connections.

Re: wrong return-path

This fixed the problem, but I don't want to patch phpBB core like this. I proposed this as a bug. HTH! It helped! Also.. I do hope the devs are planning to fix this. It's something anyone with a proper no-relay mail server setup will run into if the server name and system account happens to be diff...

Re: Hooks?

https is a site setting and nothing to do with what a user may or may not want to do It has everything to do with which people can access a forum. What a user may want to do? um.. visit the forum and look up/read posts? If their connection doesn't allow https (and yes, that happens a lot in some pa...

Re: Quick Reply intermittently doesn't post

we have seen some very strange things when running phpbb on that set of software. I'm sorry but I don't see how. I've had this phpBB board running on this setup since 2011 on 3.0.* without any such issues and through many minor upgrades, modding and restyling. It's only since my switch to 3.1.* tha...

Re: Quick Reply intermittently doesn't post

I'm using prosilver with some styling edits.

EDIT: If it was a style issue with swapped buttons, I'd gather that it would be wrong all the time, not just sometimes...

Re: Hooks?

I can't force everyone to use https Yes you can - just set it in your .htaccess *sigh* You don't understand. I can't enforce https for every visitor of the board. Not from a technical point of view because that's easy enough, but from a visitor's point of view. People MUST be able to use the forum ...

Quick Reply intermittently doesn't post

I just upgraded from 3.0.x to 3.1.6, and our users now complain that the quick reply function intermittently isn't working. I've searched this site for answers but apart from a lot of repeat topics about it not showing up at all (which isn't the issue) I haven't found an answer. Maybe someone can he...

Re: Limited SSL Usage (original hook by ToonArmy)

Thanks! the info is certainly appreciated :) Looks like I might be able to construct a workaround with this. EDIT: With the php edits in place, I've decided to actually simplify the rules. Considering anything /adm/ , /ucp.php and /posting.php is something that requires or triggers a login, I've sim...

Re: Limited SSL Usage (original hook by ToonArmy)

I have tried to figure out how to make the extension myself, I've read the guide on converting a MOD to an extension, but I'm struggling with it. I have found a much simpler way around this for now, using .htaccess and a small core edit in includes/functions.php, but would still prefer an extension...

Re: Hooks?

I've just changed over to 3.1 because of EOL of 3.0.*, and I'm running into the exact same issue. I also used this hook to automatically redirect users to https for sensitive pages. I have no idea how this events system is supposed to work and know very little PHP -- definitely not enough to rewrite...

Re: "Ban usernames" reasons do not show

I've checked the MOD, that was not it. I've cleared out the entire ban list of entries and that fixed it. Looks like something was wrong with the ban entries in the database after all? Ohwell, clean slate. I think users who have been banned for a while yet won't be visiting again anyway.

Re: "Ban usernames" reasons do not show

Since standard phpBB doesn't have that problem I suspect it is a problem caused by the installation of the Anti-spam ACP MOD. I understand that to be a logical conclusion, but I've used this combination since shortly after I started the board and it has always worked. If it was a new installation o...
