Re: Including separate dynamic files

I guess there is no such function? I was hoping this would have been a no-brainer. :cry:

Including separate dynamic files

I have a cron job that generates some dynamic snippets of HTML that I would like to include on my PHPBB3 pages. (Like a weather bug, news, etc.) On HTML pages I would use a server-side include to perform this function. Does the PHPBB3 software include a built-in library function for performing a sim...

Re: Assigning posts to a different user

when viewing a post clicking the little question mark icon will take you to the post details screen where you can assign the post to a new member if you have the proper moderator permissions set for your acount :) Thank you for the excellent reply. I really appreciate it. Is there any way to do thi...

Assigning posts to a different user

I have two problems right now, both involving members who opened more than one account. In each case the members made posts from two different accounts. What I would like to do is put all the posts under a single username then delete the duplicate account. Is there a way to do this? If not, are ther...

Re: Delete and Purge?

I wish more people were interested in soft delete and purge. My moderators are really struggling with the split topic feature in RC1. In an attempt to clean things up after a split topic gone awry, one of my moderators yesterday accidentally deleted a lot of posts. It just feels so helpless when the...

Re: Out of the box phpBB 3 is awful for SEO

My two cents: One of my members posted a new thread on Friday that contained a fairly unique phrase. This particular phase is the first and last name of a person who is currently in the news. This morning I noticed two things: Checking my web stats, this particular phrase has been the #1 search term...

Re: Admin method to create users?

I figured out on my own how to get the behavior I wanted. I check for my own IP address. If it's me, I allow the new user registration to proceed normally. If it's not me, I display a message directing the user to my separate sign up system. I can then sign them up using the web site myself, which i...

Long thread subjects are truncated when viewings the board i

phpbb3 allows 64 characters in the "Subject" field when entering a new post. (This post has a subject with 64 characters.) The entire 64 characters display properly when previewing the post. After saving, however, a few characters (4 to be precise) are truncated. Is this is a feature and can someone...

[request] Display board rules to non-access users

When a user who doesn't have access to read a board that is otherwise visible, if they click the board name they are shown this message: You do not have the required permissions to read topics within this forum. It would be nice if they were able to read the board rules on that page, too. Can someon...

Admin method to create users?

Is there a way for an admin to manually create a new user when public registration is disabled?

I thought that was the point of putting the URL tags around the text. So phpBB wouldn't have to guess.

Weird looking web site emails (new private message)

The email from phpBB3 that says "new private message" has this in it:

Code: Select all

  To: "=?UTF-8?B?ZXNob3J2YXRo?=" <helloworld@somefakedomain.com>
  Subject: =?UTF-8?B?TmV3IHByaXZhdGUgbWVzc2FnZSBoYXMgYXJyaXZlZA==?=
Is that how it is supposed to look?

Re: Fill tables and skip_rows

First, I apologize for putting this post in the wrong forum. I hope it gets moved to support.

Second, thanks for the reply. It does appear that every single topic and post made the move successfully. That is great news!

Fill tables and skip_rows

I'm running the conversion from 2.x to RC1. I get these kinds of messages. Anything to worry about? Thanks!

Code: Select all

Filling table phpbb3_posts:

skip_rows = 56242:

skip_rows = 58242:
    160 rows/s (2000 rows) |

skip_rows = 60242:
    188 rows/s (2000 rows) |
