Double notifications. A problem stopping them.

I don't like to gripe in public but I am now at the stage of not knowing what else to. In early December as I started to use this forum more I realised that I was getting double notifications. Exactly the same content and maybe a difference of 1 second in the time sent. The obvious thing to do was t...

Re: [DEV][3.2] Topic/Post Reactions

im using 3.2 as a starter point for this mod sorry. Maybe if I have time I will looking into making it backwards compatible .. Steve, I know this is hot off the presses but is it likely to be backwards compatible soon? Am I being too hasty in asking? I suppose it depends on how much work is involve...

Re: Can ‘Display Posts’ be adapted to include (e.g.)‘3 days’ as an additional option?

Many thanks David. I think it boils down to what demand there is for it? If it's a popular request then perhaps an extension can be written, if not it will have to remain as it is. It's not the end of the world but would have been a nice touch to be able to add in something like '3 Days'. I'm no pro...

Can ‘Display Posts’ be adapted to include (e.g.)‘3 days’ as an additional option?

Can ‘Display Posts’ be adapted to include ‘3 days’ as an additional option? I've been told that when this question was asked in the past the answer was No. By default it starts at 1 day then jumps to 7 days. It will depend on the traffic but at times a 1 day list isn’t enough but 7 days is too much....

Re: Do we have a phpBB duty to help 'Joe Bloggs'?

The big difference is here is that the people behind Facebook, Yahoo, iPhone, and Mac OS get paid big bucks to make their product as user-friendly as possible -- and the more people they get using it, the more revenue they bring in. :D That's not the case here with phpBB. :? Whilst it's true that t...

Re: Content ONLY for guest users

I take the point that the wording I suggested isn't necessarily appropriate in all circumstances but the principle remains that some of the expressions could be better worded to send the same message but in a friendlier way, that's all. The suggestion is made that I submit alternative wording in the...

Re: Content ONLY for guest users

Touching on the question posed and KevC's reply it's true to say that when not logged on, i.e. a guest, the default wording does make you think at times that you have been a naughty boy and have done something wrong. For example within some of the posts of a phpBB forum I belong to it says: You do n...

Re: EXPAND/COLLAPSE VIEW. Can it be adapted to truncate long posts?

Many thanks profKroy. I've had a looked at 'spoiler' and actually tried it out on the test board. It's good and I can see how a poster can in effect hide part (or even all) of what they have written by using [spoil]text[/spoil]. A sort of now you see it, now you don't feature but under the control o...

EXPAND/COLLAPSE VIEW. Can it be adapted to truncate long posts?

I don’t know how far back it goes but built into phpBB is the excellent feature when posting a reply of being able to expand/collapse the view of posts. Using this as a basis could it be adapted to truncate a long post (not a set of posts as in expand/collapse) and not just within a Post Reply sce...

Re: sort memberlist by last activity

It is quite a simple question that MacXylo asks and there is an easy answer which KevC has given. Many members of this forum reading the post will say ‘Well I knew that, I thought everyone knew that.’ Therein lies the problem and it is one that websites have had for years, the ‘I thought everyone kn...
