Re: Issue with super global $_server

I just tried this function from MuhClaren but the code throws the following error: Fatal error: Call to a member function server() on a non-object in /www/htdocs/w00xxxx/poxxx/forum/server.php on line 8 <?php /******************* * Get User Agent *******************/ function getUA() { global $requ...

Re: Recent Topics

Before I updated my forum to 3.1.5 I had a single button link that would list a page(s) of threads that had been replied to most recently. My members are complaining that this function isnt as obvious on the new software. I have added the Extention to show recent topics at the head of the main boar...

Re: how to check if user is in group

Here's how I would approach this. Keep in mind that there are always other ways, and my way may not be the best, as I'm still a novice at writing phpBB extensions. Goal: Modify the posts template block Overview: 1. Listen for event core.viewtopic_modify_post_row 2. When event happens, use a function...

Re: Simplify post dates by aproximating calculating how much time has passed

If I may add something: We probably don't care about the time if something is 2 days old. However, regarding the time frame from "Now" till "Yesterday", I think it would be helpful to include a time since we would probably want to know the chronology of a fresh post. i.e. Yesterday at 1:30 am or To...

Re: Simplify post dates by aproximating calculating how much time has passed

Just a quick update: I'm tidying this up today, and will expand it with a settings page in the ACP, as well as provide a toggle to turn it on or off for both viewtopic and viewforum. I expect to have it up on github in a day or so, and a beta release posted here. I'll keep you updated as things prog...

Re: Is there an idiots guide?

That is how I have it set up in my 3.0.x site at the moment, but ideally for 3.1.x I don't want to make any alterations to the core phpBB code (this would be needed to identify forum pages) to make updating super simple. I know an extension for a few lines of code may seem a bit over the top, but i...

Re: Simplify post dates by aproximating calculating how much time has passed

Sounds great ! Looking forward to trying it out! Ah, so I guess there is interest. I figured after not getting any response from OP, that he wasn't interested in what I had to offer, therefore, I took it off of my to do list. I'll put it back on the list, and see what I can do with it in a day or t...

Re: Sharing phpBB Session with the rest of my stie

Here's a tutorial in which the exercise is to display phpbb content on external pages. Now, I understand that you don't necessarily intend to do that, however, the basic steps of supporting the phpbb session management is what you need, and is demonstrated in the examples given. Hope this helps.

Re: replace $server and $get.

In your extension you need to provide support for the request object . This is basically done by adding it to your arguments in your extension config file (the yaml one), declaring it as a class member in the class you're going to call it from, and add it as an argument in your constructor. Once you...

Re: Extension Etiquette

Sounds like a fair plan, Chris. Speaking from my personal perspective, I know that if someone was nice enough to ask to fork my project, the fact that they bothered to ask would likely result in my approval, but also afford them a dialogue with me in the future should they have questions about somet...

Re: Simplify post dates by aproximating calculating how much time has passed

I have an extension which does this. It's not packaged for distribution yet, but if you can wait for a few days, I'll put one out. I'm traveling right now, so once I get home on the 28th, I will work on a distribution. It uses units from "Seconds" all the way through "Decades" and every increment in...

Re: Extension Etiquette

If you're talking about borrowing a method or three it probably will suffice to give credit to the author, with a link to the source, in the PHPDoc block (the block comments for the method(s). If you're wanting to take and use an entire class, classes, or full extension, while it's probably permitte...

Re: Is there an idiots guide?

I couldn't use that because each section of the site is in a sub directory of the root so most of the script names are 'index' :( http://www.example.com/this_is_the_bit_i_need/index.php If each index.php script is unique, you could set a template variable in each script, and check for it in your ma...
