Michaelton, Let me know if the suggested modification allows the copy and paste of smart quotes, curly apostrophes, and the em-dash (long dash). Those features are essential to me also. My board will focus on statements in English; no one will be discussing code. I'm going to wait for the final rele...

Michaelton, You don't have to explain why it's a nice feature to be able to copy and paste smart quotes, curly apostrophes, and an em-dash (long dash) now and then. A lot of stuff is written with those special characters and people do make much use of previously written material when posting. You've...

we had lots of complaints from people posting things like &  , etc. seeing either & or blank space rather than the word they typed (makes sense ...). I wonder why UBB is smart-quote enabled? Don't they have users posting things like &  , etc? How did they solve this problem? It would be n...

Yes.

Copying Verdana text from Word 97 and then pasting it into the message box doesn't work.

It used to be that smart looking quotes and apostrophes would post correctly. As you may know, sometimes when one bug is fixed, two more develop. This must be one of those problems. They'll get it all working eventually, I'm sure.

I assume that the final release of phpbb 2.0 will be compatible with PHP 4.1.1. This must have been mentioned already. I'll do a search on this.

Corvaith, In software development there are advantages for programmers to release their work in stages. That way testers can report bugs (glitches) and things. The first realistic stage is called beta. When the major bugs with that are fixed and the developers think that they've attained a certain p...

John, We've been warned to wait for the final release and I want to be patient. That's not a problem. From reading some of the desperate pleas for help, I know that I would hate the least bit of grief on fixing code that I can't understand. On the other hand, I can see many people thinking that putt...

You should stick with RC-2 until the final release or maybe RC-3. Any random CVS could be buggier that RC-2 and you don't want the trouble.

What am I supposed to see?

Yes, I'm using IE. Everything on the board used to be a small font size. Now the message text looks like a 12 pt font. I was never able to change the size of text on any phpBB 2.0 page using View > Text Size. And it doesn't change now using it. I always thought that the one size screen font was a fe...
