Also remember not all the world uses the same settings as the US - the UK and most of Europe does not change for a few weeks yet.

Re: hotlinking from phpbb

if you use the link from the 'properties' (from the attachment below it is http://www.phpbb.com/community/download/file.php?id=51735&t=1) you are not hotlinking direct to the file - you are being passed though the file.php to view it - so it is secure from that point of view. You cannot RUN the file...

Re: hotlinking from phpbb

The phpBB3 attachment system has been designed specifically to stop hot-linking. If someone uploads a file to your forum it is possible to make use of it as a vulnerability to run scripts on your system if not. EG it is a security feature to NOT allow hot-linking. If you 'need' to be able host a fil...

Re: adding columns

That is a version 2 forum - we no longer support that version which is too old. (see the link to its status in my signature). It looks like you have only just installed this, so I would recommend you just start again from a download from the top of this forum. If you wish to convert your current for...

I believe from memory this mod does the SQL chnages itself when it first gets used.

If not this might help - Knowledge Base - Executing SQL Queries in phpMyAdmin.

Please note for the future - we have a rule about not bumping topics in under 6 hours.

Re: You HAVE to be kidding me!!!!

the .htaccess file with just your own IP is the better way. I use that method myself as I have about 50 mods/admins so it is too easy for one to get to the forum when it is disabled. I actually redirect the other users (with the .htaccess file) to a subdomain with a index.html file explaining we are...

Re: Can admin read other users PM?

The database does NOT hold all PM's.

It holds all PM's that have not been deleted, which is a different thing.

So your statistics would be out if you do view and analyze the DB direct.

But if you have say an old version of wordpress (or another application) they may have got in that way.

You need to make sure EVERYTHING installed is up to date.

Re: List of Spam Posts on forum index

It looks to me as though they are being injected into the generated page.

you are obviously hacked in some way, most likely via something else on your machine.

For cleaning of your forum and/or server, please refer to the phpBB Incident tracker.

This has been split from this topic - as IMO it is not adding to that support issue - but does raise a point that others may wish to discuss.

Re: Encoding charset error

no answer ? Please note the following. We have a 6 hour bump rule on this board for a reason. The main reason is by making a reply you have removed yourself from the zero replied topics list which lots of helpers here use to make sure people do get replies. So you have made it HARDER to get a reply...
