Especially for someone who ASKS for it.

I never give admin or mod powers to anyone who asks. If someone is noticed by me and I give the powers fine - never to someone who asks.

Re: phpBB Future Security?

mkruer For the forum software to be able to retrieve the email data - such as to send notification emails - it would need to be able to decrypt the data, if so it has to store that key somewhere, if it does it might just as well have the data in clear, as any hacker worth his salt will be able to ac...

Re: PHPBB Book?

Copying posts (or even extracts of them) and making a book is actually against the copyright - unless you get ALL the posters to agree to passing copyright to you for that publication. When people post to forums they give permission for the forum owner to display, but do not relinquish the copyright...

Re: Advertisement Management

That has nothing to do with this MOD, and everything to do with how you have addsense setup with google.

So you will need to deal with them and thier systems to get that right.

Re: Custom BBCodes

Most of the forum users are from England that visit my forum and they use a UK keyboard. I'm trying to make it easier for them to add Spanish characters: á, é, í, ó, ú and ñ, in their posting. I was wondering if this could easily be done in BBcode? If this has already been covered, sorry! No that w...

Re: A PHPBB3 development server

One other option for you, and is what I have done, is have a subdomain with a second installed copy of phpBB3 for such testing, including a seperate DB. I did get a bit more technical, in that I set it up on a seperate VPS and use a hosts file to redirect so I can use the same domain name, but a sub...

Re: activation emails won't stop + admin hangs

If that folder did not have the right settings it would have been able to add the file for the mail queue, but unable to delete it after. What would then happen is it would gradually build up larger and larger generating more and more emails. Just what you discribe was happening. Using your FTP prog...

Re: activation emails won't stop + admin hangs

I believe this is normally due to a wrong permission settings on the "/cache/" folder on the server.
You could make sure they are set correctly in your FTP program - it should be CHMOD 777

It might help if you complete the support template (link in my signature).

Can we expect a security update soon?
As nothing was hacked via the v3 software it does not need an update. Not for those reasons anyway.

Yes, we will either replace or update the 3rd party script which was the attack vector.

Re: Area51 not available ?

The support section of area51 has been closed - as otherwise people would continue to post to that forum, instead of here. We only use area51 when this forum has some sort of problem, such as after the latest hack. If/when it is needed again, for a different problem, it would be re-opened. We are no...
