Modification to Nav Bar

This is a two part query. 1. I would like to remove the link to "The team" from the Nav Bar, it's superfluous on our forum as we only have one Admin. 2. I would like to add a link in its place "Irish News" with a link to https://news.google.ie/ The style I'm using is a slightly modified version of w...

Re: Identify user's time of day

@kasimi, that code looks great.

Where would it go and how would I set a default for a guest/unregistered user?

Re: Identify user's time of day

it's actually DUBLIN_TIME that was just for illustration only. :) I added a line to include/functions.php after line 5168 ( post aboved corrected ) 'DUBLIN_TIME' => $t = date("H") + 5, The server is in Canada which is offset from Dublin, Ireland by -5 hours. Here's the actual working code from overa...

@Mick that's a great suggestion, thanks. I've started a topic, hopefully someone will show an interest in the idea.

Identify user's time of day

I would like to know how to identify the hour of the day it is for a user so that I can trigger an action based on that time such as a greeting or in the case of our forum to change the banner from a daytime picture to a nighttime picture. dashboard_lamp_day.png dashboard_lamp_night.png Currently I ...

Re: Board overrun by spam 3.1.09

When you do get sorted, ban all registrations from "certain" countries that you don't reasonably expect to participate in your forum.

Re: make my domain name point to the phpBB forum

Can't you just set you domain pointer to point to a sub-directory instead of the root?
That's how my domain works.

Re: Minimum Word Count For Post Count?

The minimum number of characters per post is stored in the phpbb_config table as min_post_chars I'm not suggesting a very high minimum character limit, just suggesting it as a point where the software determines how many characters are actually in the post. I expect the OP allows all posts but only ...

Re: Minimum Word Count For Post Count?

There is currently a setting for the minimum number of letters needed to constitute a valid post, it's in the ACP > Post Settings. You might be able to work with that to calculate a statistical equivalent of a 200 word post.

How do I identify a User's time of day

I would like to know how to identify the hour of the day it is for a user so that I can trigger an action based on that time. Ideally I would like guests who are not logged in to use the default forum time. Any suggestions? Thanks. I expect the code would look basically like this in overall_header.h...

Re: PhpBB 3.1.9 Conversion Error Help

I had a similar issue recently. I was doing a test backup and restore. The system error was caused by the number of database requests made in a very short time by a single user. It looked like the site was being DDOSed and the automatic system protection kicked in and denied all further access for 3...
