Re: Convert attachments to embedded images.

I may not have explained myself too clearly. I have a strategy to get away from attached images in favour of embedded images hosted elsewhere. There are several reasons to do this as I see it. 1) Savings on disk storage space 2) Savings on time and storage backing up said images 3) Savings on bandwi...

Re: Convert attachments to embedded images.

I hadn't considered that option. I'll see if I can find a suitable extension. Thanks Robert. Nevertheless I must remain committed to getting away from future attachments for the storage reasons stated above. I have no idea how to move the attachments as they seem to be in a non-image format. I got t...

Re: Convert attachments to embedded images.

I would expect the BBcode IMG tag to work for new images but how do I find the url of existing attachments?
The best I can identify so far for already attached images is

Code: Select all

Convert attachments to embedded images.

Running 3.1.9 My site has a fairly high ratio of image content, mostly old photographs and maps, I want to get away from them being uploaded as attachments or I will be swamped over time. I want to encourage my posters to use an image hosting service instead and embed the image link. Naturally I don...

Re: How To Allow .png Images In Private Messages

Have you enabled the use of attachments in PMs or is this issue just related to images in png format?

Check ACP > Posting > Private Message Settings > Allow attachments in private messages.

Full Text of PM in Notification Email.

Is it possible to receive the entire text of a PM in the notification email for that pm? At the moment all I get is just a link to the PM itself but I would prefer to have an independent copy stored in an email. I can find no way in the ACP to configure the software to do do this or any extemsion to...

Re: chat or no chat?

Maybe my view of chat boxes is very simplistic but as I see it every comment made in a chat-box is a post lost to your forum.

You could end up with a thriving chat-box and a stagnant forum.

Re: How can we display only categories in board index.

I know this is a very old topic but I found I wanted to do exactly this and this topic is where Google led me. I've worked out a very simple solution to this problem if anybody is interested. Here's how I approached it. Create a new Category named "My Boards Categories" or what ever takes your fancy...

Re: Forum Error - Can't access Boards directly from Board Index

Thanks for all your help. Everything seems back to normal now.

I am surprised that clearing the cache from the ACP didn't achieve the same result. What does it do if not clear the cache directory?

I'll follow you instructions as soon as the FTP transfer complete. I don't want to have a half of one half of the other situation.

Re: Forum Error - Can't access Boards directly from Board Index

I recently took a full FTP backup of the site just before I installed Adsense. I'm rolling back to that now.

Edit Sorry Didn't see you post before I submitted this

Re: Whos online - Users always online?

You could probably just edit the who is online text in language/en/common.php 'REGISTERED_USERS' => 'Registered users:', to 'REGISTERED_USERS' => 'Registered users: Bob, Jeff, Mary, ', Can't quite work out why but there you go :) That is the most devious, though elegant, solution to a problem I hav...
