Re: PROBLEM - Unable to delete private messages

What version of the Attachment MOD do you have installed? Some versions are not compatible with PHP v5, and can have these symptoms. If you installed Attachments on the test board from the new code, it can respond differently than the old code. I'd try replacing the attachment include files with the...

Re: Inserting Image into posts

Check to make sure that you have "bbcode" enabled in both the forum configuration AND your personal profile, otherwise, it won't display.

Re: Urgent -mass emailer 451 qq internal bug ???

You don't want to import all 10,000 names to your address book, that's for sure, because it is going to change over time.

This link might help, though....

Re: Can't add URL in post

You need to "URL encode" certain characters, like the ( and ), or phpBB will refuse to display it. This is a "fix" for a vulnerability in Internet Explorer that was introduced several years ago. It definitely isn't going to let you post it as an image, because of the ? in the link, for the same reas...

Re: not sure what happen but....

Then you are using a MOD to do the subforums. There are at least three that I know of, possibly more; you would have to check the support area for the particular MOD you are using for advice on how to make it do what you are looking for.

Re: Urgent -mass emailer 451 qq internal bug ???

For bulk emailing your users, using a tool like Outlook Express works better than phpBB in any case; it more gracefully handles things like bad email addresses. Just remember to put the users as "BCC" addresses, if you wish to protect their email addresses.

Re: Forums Merging?

It is a mess, especially if you have members in common between them, with different user numbers. There is a topic around here on merging forums, which discusses this, and I think it even has links to a script to help out. Searching for "merging" should come up with it, because it is part of the sub...

Re: Prety sure ive been Hacked..need help with Update!

The error message you're getting indicates you have a problem with a table in the database, and a repair of that table will probably take care of it. Check out the first link in my signature...... At worst, you can drop the search tables and rebuild them from scratch using a MOD (such as this one )....

Re: phpbb 2.0.23 | MySQL 3.xx -> 5.xx upgrade

It looks like webmin generates backups that contain SQL statements to restore the data. That's pretty much what both phpmyadmin and mysqldump would do. The tool doesn't really matter, just the result. Skipping tables is a speed and size thing; you NEED all 29 tables to be present (more if you have M...

Re: PROBLEM - Unable to delete private messages

Is it JUST private messages you can't delete, or any message? It sounds like the "new server" does not allow the user that phpBB uses to connect to the database to use the DELETE command.

Re: phpBB : Critical Error - Error creating new session

The "problem" is that the file isn't available because the operating system has locked it. This means you probably can't even drop the table and replace it, because the file name is in use. If it WILL let you drop the phpbb_sessions table, you can recreate it with this SQL statement: CREATE TABLE ph...

Re: phpbb 2.0.23 | MySQL 3.xx -> 5.xx upgrade

Around here, assuming someone has command-line access to the database is only going to be correct about .02% of the time... With CL access, though, you can simply import the file using the mysql command line tool. That will take care of time-outs and all that sort of rot. Webmin is nice, but... it's...

Re: Duplicate entry 'xxx' for key 1 (phpbb design flaw?)

mt_srand ((double) microtime() * 1000000); $search_id = mt_rand(); It is possible for a random number generator (if it is truly random) to generate two values that are identical. It is highly unlikely, BUT more probable if two separate instances of the generator are run with the same seed value, an...

Re: phpbb 2.0.23 | MySQL 3.xx -> 5.xx upgrade

You can leave the database type set to "mysql"; changing it to "mysql4" does not gain you anything worthwhile at this point. Use phpmyadmin to back up the database, following the instructions in How to move a phpBB 2.0.x board to a new server . Using a text editor, find the definition for the Sessio...
