Re: Sessions table is full creating an error

Script to repair/clear/alter sessions table

A "full" table means you're using an in-memory "Heap" table for sessions. That is a practice that hasn't been right for about 5 years, but wasn't under your control when it (the board) was created. You can fix it now, though.

Re: How are user_id's created?

And it isn't auto-increment because AI columns cannot have negative numbers... and user ID -1 is used for Anonymous (the guest user).

Re: Edit path in phpbb2 to find the file "mysql.sock"?

The path to the socket file is set in php.ini, not in anything you do in phpBB. If it isn't correct, it's because the server isn't properly configured yet. Alternatively, you can specify the server address as "127.0.0.1" instead of "localhost", and the socket file is taken out of the equation; using...

Re: intermitent php mail message error

Intermittent problems are almost certainly at the mail server end; I deal with quite a number of applications that do emailing from websites, and the errors from the mailing side are generally for bad addresses, but the mail server side can do things like toss up an intermittent DNS issue, or trip a...

Re: I need help with my forum

Your db/ directory should have the following files in it: db2.php index.htm msaccess.php mssql-odbc.php mssql.php mysql4.php mysql.php oracle.php postgres7.php In the config.php script, there is a line that looks like: $dbms = 'mysql'; The only legal values between the single quotes are: db2 msacces...

Re: I need help with my forum

Check your config.php script and the contents of the db/ directory, and make sure the database type matches what your server uses, AND that the corresponding database driver is in place. The names are CASE SENSITIVE, and "mysql" is not the same as "MySQL". If the file names are missing or screwed up...

Re: Visual entry validation problem

The validation report checks against v2.0. 23 requirements; the field that is "missing" would be inserted when you run the update script that comes with the newer version of phpBB... and you really should update. As for visual confirmation, there are a number of things that can break it, and not all...

Re: Debug error on posting

No time right now, but... Your original error message said that 2017 was a duplicate number in the posts_text table, which does not use an auto_increment column - phpBB uses the value found in the posts table. But, your last message said the auto_inc number was 2046, not 2017... Do you have the SAME...

Re: Debug error on posting

The database is missing some attributes... You probably did the backup using the "built in" backup utility, which is kind of dumb when it comes to newer versions of MySQL, and can't "see" some things it really needs to see. [Fixing] 1062 Duplicate entry '0' for key 1 There may also be a knowledge ba...

Re: Deleting posts not reducing database size enough...?

When you delete something in a database, it does not reduce the size of the tables. It simply marks the "deleted" record as such, and adds the space it occupied to the "free space list". Your database should not GROW in size for a long time. If you view the database in phpmyadmin, you will see "over...

Does anyone know if the version 2.0 forums created with creatforum are going to be closed down? I cannot get any support from createforum right now. This is the essence of your question, and the answer is, "They'll be supported on createforum.com as long as createforum.com wishes to support them." ...

Re: Found a trojan on my board

You are right to be suspicious if they think disabling URL includes "fixes" the problem. Properly configured, even if PHP can include a URL outside the local machine, the web server should not be running at a privilege level that would allow it to overwrite any files that are not specifically set as...

Re: Duplicate entry 'xxx' for key 1 (phpbb design flaw?)

Repair the tables giving you this problem, because the indexes are damaged. If you use phpmyadmin, select them and look for the "With Selected" pull-down box, and select "Repair tables".

Alternatively, the first link in my signature will help you.

Re: Huge session problem

Reviewing the sessions information you posted, all of your sessions originate from just 3 IPs, and you have multiple users on each of them. Those users present can appear from any of the three IPs. This looks remarkably like a proxy access problem, were a user's IP can change between accesses. That ...

Re: Huge session problem

A link to your board would be very helpful - situations like this can arise from people using proxies to access the system, and they are especially hard to diagnose when the proxy is on the server side.

Also, have you run a REPAIR on the sessions table?
