Re: phpBB QuickInstall for phpBB 3.0.x

Couple of suggestion for this tool (which I love) 1) Allow a phpBB version to be selected. I have coded this myself and it helps on support issues to quickly replicate users environment. In sources I have phpbb300,phpbb301,phpbb302 etc.. and then a dropdown in the create board form. 2) Allow extra s...

Re: You ever notice how defensive this community is?

re 4) there are user permission, moderator permissions and administrator permission, once u have one m_ or a_ you ARE a moderator or administrator. Just the idea of that meaning total power over a forum(moderator) or a board(administrator) no longer apply.

Re: You ever notice how defensive this community is?

dmg81, As a MOD author I might approach the permissions system with a slightly different view to the system, but please be aware my requirements are as valid as a normal user. phpBB has grown successful in part thanks to the MOD community which is a subpart of the entire user community. I have looke...

Re: permissions that are full - but not

In the future (3.2?) certain roles could be marked as "special" like the special groups. Then on adding the permission that function could add the permission to the role and set it to yes. Just an idea.

Re: permissions that are full - but not

So I think you are talking about "Roles" rather than permissions. They are a component on the system, but slightly different in they are not permissions themselves. The naming of the standard roles is the only place where "full" is used for permissions system as far as I know. The best approach is f...

Re: Adding an ACP Module

So you can only use code like this if you have a DB installer script for your MOD. Then its pretty simple, place the function in your script and then call it passing it the required variables. Viola modules are installed.

Re: [BETA] phpBB Garage 2.0

So the next beta is just really waiting for me to package and test the updater. I keep trying to get time over the last few days but real work and family get in the way. Tonight I have hopefully 3 hours when I try to make this happen.

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.0.3 released

For me I use the auto-updater, I review each file the auto-updater wants to touch even if no conflict is found and changes are going to be merged. Where a conflict is found, I study why its conflicting and make the needed changes and upload the file and re-check the files till I have no conflicts an...

Re: Ask a question to the MOD Team!

Does the MOD team think hosting a version control system for MODs is something they would be interested in adding to code.phpbb.com? Does the MOD team think allowing bugs reports to a bug tracker for MODs would be something that would add value for MOD authors. What do the MOD team see as a priority...

Re: phpBB Garage

Find in functions_garage.php // Since we aren't allowed to use URL's bomb out return false; Replace with // Since we aren't allowed to use URL's bomb out echo "allow_url_fopen is not allowed"; return false; My guess is allow_url_fopen is not allowed. The only solution is to use a later version such ...
