Are there any feature differences going straight to PHP 7.4 vs. PHP 7.3, besides a tiny bit more speed? What I mean is, does phpBB benefit from PHP 7.4 features in a way that PHP 7.3 does not provide by chance?
Bumping my question.

Steve, could you please take a look at my last post above in response to the new changes you made, and determine if any of my points need to be addressed? They may be applicable and important, but I'd prefer that you be the judge.

Thanks.

Re: Does phpBB violate PHP's license

Why are so many of you getting worked up over this simple question? It either violates a PHP license or it does not. Since phpBB has existed before those license conditions were made up, that would imply that phpBB is possibly exempt from those terms. But if not, then it would then imply that phpBB ...

Re: Is anyone gonna get the new "chameleon" style when it's released?

To get Chameleon also means getting phpBB 4.0 (Triton). They go together. I doubt proSilver will be compatible.

Will I use it? Hell yeah.

After speaking with Hanakin about a possible ACP re-design to go with it, he said it will not happen until phpBB 4.1 or so.

Re: File Permissions of phpBB running on Windows

With this being on Windows 10, I am using NTFS. I don't know what you mean by "trying to mix the two". It sounds like you are saying there are no options to change file permissions to make things more secure, since once someone has access to the file, they can always override it anyways, e...

Re: Updating 3.3.x

That seems like a good idea. There are several issues with the new update instructions I'd like to point out: Updates are considered minor, so instead of having "Minor Updates Within 3.2.x" and "Minor Updates Within 3.2.x" as titles (redundant), it should simply say "Updates...

Re: Updating 3.3.x

If you feel so strongly that a new KB article is required then there is nothing to stop you writing it and submitting it. You seem to overlook the fact that everyone here is a volunteer and phpBB does not have any "staff" members. I'll gladly write it up to help out this community. I have...

Re: Updating 3.3.x

As steve said, just use the 3.2.x-update instructions with the "full package method" and you will be fine. :) Unacceptable. Knowing that the update process for 3.2 is the same as 3.3 is not the point here. Just because I know I can update my forums doesn't mean others know how to update t...

File Permissions of phpBB running on Windows

I'm running a website on Windows 10 with phpBB, so I do not have the choice of using cmod. Questoins: Should any files be set to "Read-only" (e.g. the config.php) for the sake of security? Would changing files (e.g. the config.php) to "Hidden" be a good idea, possibly in addition...

Updating 3.3.x

There is an article for 3.2.x here , but I couldn't find one in the 3.3 Knowledge Base . I sent a PM to stevemaury (the kind elderly gentlemen that couldn't find the woman without underwear (see my signature) ) to see if he could write up an article regarding this subject back in January, but I see ...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.3.1 Release

I updated my forums from phpBB 3.2.9 to 3.2.10 yesterday. Although I said in a previous post that I would wait a while before using phpBB 3.3.1, the downloaded file was calling my name. It was too tempting of an offer to pass up. I upgraded! :D No issues, and I'm glad I did. Thanks again to everyone...
