Updating Order

I'm running phpBB 3.2.9. I plan on getting 3.2.10 once it comes out then jumping to 3.3.1 after it has been out for a little while. My question is, after 3.2.10, would it be better to get 3.3.0 before 3.3.1, or would it be better (and safer/recommended) to go directly for 3.3.1? I'm asking because I...

Re: PhpBB vs Vbulletin vs xenforo

You said you've used phpbb for 18 years, I'm sure you're aware of extensions. Phpbb has a philosophy of minimalism in the core package. Have you really not found the lacking features in the variety of available extensions to compensate for what you like in xenforo? I know of extensions and formerly...

Re: MySQL Community Server 8.0

Interesting. Thanks for that.

I thought PHP 7.2 does not work with MySQL Community Server 8.0 due to the new utf8mb4_800_ci_ai collation being used.

Re: PhpBB vs Vbulletin vs xenforo

I still hold a licence to xenforo, i have moved to xf twice from phpbb over the years and then moved back to phpbb using my own conversion script. Will stick with phpbb now. I've been a user of phpBB for 18 years now and have recently been looking into Xenforo due to the modern look and appeal, fea...

MySQL 5.7 vs. 8.0 and PHP 8.0

Anyone know if PHP 8.0 will be compatible with MySQL Community Server 5.7.x, or will it only work with MySQL Community Server 8.0.x?

A few questions

phpBB 3.2.10 will be the last release of the 3.2.x series as far as I can tell. I see a list of pending issues marked to be fixed for 3.2.11-RC1 , but with support being cut off by July 6, 2020 , my guess is those issues will never get fixed in the future and that the focus for development will con...

Re: PhpBB vs Vbulletin vs xenforo

Something else I found: https://imtips.co/phpbb-vs-vbulletin-why-vbulletin.html I recall in the past someone claiming that phpBB is better-coded than the paid alternatives, but then this person claims... vBulletin has much cleaner code Being free with volunteers contributing vs. coding for profit to...

Re: phpBB Team's website forum versions

Please don't, as you're still unable to query HTTPS yourself and assume it being absent when querying HTTP. It is understandable that you are concerned with having your site getting evaluated, and not just for https. I know that you use it. It should redirect all traffic to https by default, but it...

Re: phpBB Team's website forum versions

My original topic has been edited. :) I use https and I am on phpBB 3.3.0. To what should I update? :? You're fine now regarding the the latest phpBB version and https with redirects. As for what else should be updated, I'm glad you asked. Here are few bonuses, yet they don't cover everything: - You...
