Re: What are the "Must Have" extensions for a phpBB forum?

I've been using phpBB for 17 years now and have never needed or used any mods or extensions.

Everything runs just fine for me without them.

Re: Why forum over Facebook?

I'd like to add to this. phpBB is more of an exclusive party. Cookies expire when you use phpBB but they don't expire when you visit a Facebook page and continue browsing the Internet. That is how Facebook tracks everyone's browsing habits and make money. Even if you're not registered with them, you...

Re: ACP Private Messages: Wording could be better

Thru the years I modified an installation to also have more granular permission options (or adding a group type where not even members would know who else is in there). Consider it as "crossing the line" between your individual needs and what phpBB provided for years already - it won't be...

Re: ACP Private Messages: Wording could be better

I think that the "Can send private messages", if set to "no", also doesn't allow sending private messages to groups or multiple users. It's a general option, if the Private Message system should be available to that user or not. So adding "to users" will be misleading ...

ACP Private Messages: Wording could be better

<r>This is an easy change since it involves text.<br/> <br/> <I><s></s>ACP > Permissions (tab) > User roles > Private Messages (tab)<e></e></I><br/> <br/> <br/> I noticed 3 of these lines could be changed for consistency and clarification with respect to the others available from the list.<br...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.6 Release

I'm happy with the change in backup functionality. Know that it was done with good intentions. Having proactive security is always better than being reactive. That's what makes phpBB stand out over other solutions. Being one step ahead is key to avoiding a potential compromised situation. The update...

Re: VPN discussion: Are they necessary?

Lots of good info here. Thanks, guys.

I may get a VPN in the future for trial and testing purposes only, because I'm totally not one of those guys that downloads anything illegal.

VPN discussion: Are they necessary?

I've seen a lot of YouTube videos of people promoting the use of VPN services. It seems to be their go-to sponsor for all video uploads these days. I'd like to get unbiased opinions by people that are not being paid. Recently, I saw a few of the members advertise their IPs here , and it got me think...

Testing Requests forum

Re: WTF?? Blocked by Content Security Policy

No one here would see it here since the Content Security Policy rule dictates to everyone what is and is not allowed to be used on your site, regardless of browser or who visits.

Re: WTF?? Blocked by Content Security Policy

Either you or your host added a new header to your Apache, Nginx (or whatever else you may be using) configuration file called Content-Security-Policy. It will blacklist everything unless it is specifically whitelisted in the Content-Security-Policy list. This has nothing to do with phpBB. If you di...
