Well I have recently installed phpbb on my server. I used the backup feature in the admin control panel and backed up everything related to phpbb. (I have the full database backup mod). I do not wnat people to just be able to register and then have access to the site. I want to be able to see who is joining in the admin cp, and then decide if I want to activate their accounts or not. So really, I do not want people to be able to activate their own accounts. So...
