technical question - ?

Is there a way to save individual posts from these support forums for future reference? I don't see an option anywhere to "save to favorite threads" or "print this post" or anything like that that would make it easy to find specific posts again. I know you can earmark a post to have reply notificati...

May I ask what the default max character length is then for a user name? Is it 25 or 40?

Once I figure out how to stop my WinXP machine from trying to open the phpBB installation files with this PhotoParade application, my problem will be solved. I'm on WinXp, too. With a regular file on the harddrive, you can right-click it, choose "Open With" and then "Choose Program", find the progr...

but if I point it to the logo_phpBB.gif file, the default logo shos up despite the fact that the logo_phpBB.gif file is replaced by a new custom design....strange...anyone know why that is? Sounds like it's stuck in your cache. That happens occassionally to me when I overwrite image files. Have you...

That's odd, a link to his site was here just a minute a go. Anyway, Yes, that opens an advertisement page for "Photoparade.com" with an error message indicating that I need this software. Must one purchase this photo software to run phpBB? From the Photopage.com FAQS: Every time I open my Microsoft ...

Thankyou, Bobble. The space below the links can be attributed to this code ... The height of the graphic is too tall and causing a large gap. Do you think it would help then if I made a new table_r.gif minus the coffecup so that it would be smaller height-wise? As for the gap above try moving this c...

This is exactly what I've wanted to do. Has anyone tried this, does it work, and if so, could you post more detailed instructions on how to accomplish this? Thanks, C Really nice MOD! Perhaps a more comprehensive way or more of a "teaser" version would be to show guests one thing, i.e. "This page co...

Get rid of excess space in header?

http://keangenes.com/phpBB2/index.php I edited overall_header.tpl to add the links to the scrapbook and home page, but can't see how to get rid of the excess space above and below them? The logo and graphical links at the top are in tables, my two text links below that are NOT in a table, then the n...

I ran the "auto cookie" mod

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=228741

and that fixed the problem - I can now log in again, no more strange error page from MSN.

:D Thankyou again for your easy to follow directions, I updated with no problems. I was still, however, unable to login to my Admin Panel. So I ran the "auto cookie" mod and that finally fixed things. Now I am all updated AND am able to log in and out properly! AND my changes to my theme & FAQs are ...

:D Thanks, this worked beautifully for me - solved the problems I was having and I am once again able to log-in to my Admin Panel. Only thing is, I did not see there were 27 pages to this thread so I stopped reading after the last post on page one, and that post has incorrect step-by-step directions...

Since I modified my choosen theme, in my mind, I've made mods. But in the sense "mods" is intended as you describe, then no, I haven't installed any mods. So yes, I think that clears it up for me. :)

Thankyou, Robert! I am going to copy my existing files so I can use them as a guide if I have to re-customize my theme, and then I'm going to follow your directions. I do have one more question, though, please, and I know its kind of a dumb one but... When the term "MODs" is used, what is that norma...

Thankyou. It says I have version 2.0.17 - now maybe I can actually get somewhere in this frustrating process. These are the directions I found for doing the 'changed files only" as you reccomended: Code Changes MODs The code changes are also available in MOD-format, here: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/...
