Re: Help with forums sharing same database.

This makes it so that the post counts are the same per user across multiple boards, is that correct? Yes. By the way, I edited the post above to add some sanity checks in the code, not that it could cause trouble but could through some notice about the user_data count to be not set in some of the s...

Re: Help with forums sharing same database.

Seemed easier than I though, in includes/acp/acp_main.php, you can replace :                         $sql = 'SELECT COUNT(p.post_id) AS num_posts, u.user_id                             FROM ' . USERS_TABLE . ' u                             LEFT JOIN  ' . POSTS_TABLE . ' p ON (u.user_id = p.poster_id...

Re: Help with forums sharing same database.

you're right. I'm currently working on sharing user among boards for phpBB SEO, and I was about to look toward this direction. I'll keep you posted. A new trick that could help some using a dedicated server (or a shared one with multi db settings) to make forums even easier to maintain is to use one...

Re: Help with forums sharing same database.

Now the only issue remaining is concerning the user message count. Since it cannot take into account the messages posted on the other forum(s), you see some unusual things like total message contribution being over 100%. And if you restore message count from the ACP, it only counts the messages fro...

Re: [RC4] GYM Sitemaps & RSS (aka mx Google Sitemaps)

I think it's just that Google recently got more interested into the lastmod and priority tags, so it does not like when they are always the same. No more dev will be made on this version, but you can still delete these two tags in all sitemaps by just replacing : $this->style_config = array('Sitemap...

Re: [RC4] GYM Sitemaps & RSS (aka mx Google Sitemaps)

Hi I cannot change encoding for RSS. I chose windows-1251 in "Charset". But encoding still in utf-8. Maybe i need to change something in "Char-set conversion method"? Thanks! Resolved. The final output always uses utf-8, the setting you mention only concern the original char-set to convert. Where's...

3) Edited ONLY the includes\auth.php file to do user_permissions_X/user_perm_X fix that "A_Jelly_Doughnut" describes below. It looks to me that all files using user_permissions/user_perm in SQLs and auth array should be modified, or am I missing something ? ++ I'm still wondering about this. So far...

Re: magic seo url ? any good ?

Problem is, it's something pretty hard to prove straight, Well I think that's the gist of it DCZ, no one really knows except for maybe a handful of Google engineers. Having said that I'll reiterate having read many posts on the topic that overall it's not that important. But, there are good signs a...

Re: magic seo url ? any good ?

Well I must disagree here. Problem is, it's something pretty hard to prove straight, since the only way (expect if you are working at Google for example) would be to compare two pages with the exact same ranking (more than PR) and content with two different urls. Experimenting on this directly is tr...

Re: magic seo url ? any good ?

Personally, I wouldn't use any mod that drastically mangles the URL's such as injecting keywords into the URL. These don't account for much anyway SEO wise. Relevant keywords in URL do matter, the problem is how to maintain the quality and relevancy. It can be pretty hard to maintain a good topic t...
