Re: Out of the box phpBB 3 is awful for SEO

Again, I think that filtering content should be done for all guest, not bots only. Otherwise you fell under the cloaking definition, and there is nothing sure about how will bots will appreciate it.

Re: Out of the box phpBB 3 is awful for SEO

You are right and that's why a small description of the forum could still be descriptive for both user and bots reading threads. This of course apply if the thread is related to the forum where it is posted. It's just a bit more than repeating the forum title in topic pages. It's of course a matter ...

SEO WISE, the forum description can be useful, I do not agree getting rid of it could be useful in all cases.

Re: Out of the box phpBB 3 is awful for SEO

of course I do, and that's why I do not have anything against these links to be removed from here, I'm just saying that spam would, IMHO, apply a bit more for someone selling things, or worst drugs or porn, here we only talk about how "badly" (according to the topic title since I do not fully agree ...

Re: Out of the box phpBB 3 is awful for SEO

Well if you feel like it, I have no problem with it, but to me it was not spam. I answered the thread because I'm interested in SEO, told what I thought about the topic, and yes posted two links because it seemed to me that showing how well phpBB3 can be SEOed could be part of the answer. Some time ...

Re: Out of the box phpBB 3 is awful for SEO

Don't be so rude, after all, phpBB3 is a lot more bot friendly than phpBB2 was, this is for sure. Better html, better SID handling, many things allowing better indexing and ranking. Besides SEO is not only a matter of recipe, but a lot more a matter of using the good one for you, some SEO tweaks, ev...

Re: How is the phpbb3 SEO?

Very true, and not necessarily all URL rewriting standard will fit a given forum's content. Sometime, title injection is either useless, if there is no latin1 chars in the title, or counter productive for some general chat forums with most topic title like : "have you seen this, ouahh so cooooool !!...

Re: [BETA] Search Engine Friendly (SEO) URLs

No kidding
The funniest thing is I always wondered myself why I named my own version of the function this way, since it's more about title formatting than URL itself, but now, I'm convinced I did right, two brain cannot be wrong

Re: [BETA] Search Engine Friendly (SEO) URLs

Interesting.

That's funny we both choose the same name for the format_url() function, I see webmedic did inspire some of us :D

keep up the good work!

Re: [RC4] GYM Sitemaps (aka mx Google Sitemaps)

Yes cyber alien's guest sessions mod still work with phpBB 2.0.22.

I don't know about the EZMod compliance of the mod, I do not use it, but, since there is just one file to edit, I guess you can proceed manually.

Re: [RC4] GYM Sitemaps (aka mx Google Sitemaps)

It a bit less complicated than that. Yes both gym sitemaps 1.2.0RC4 here and at www.phpbb-seo.com are the same. The cyber alien guest sessions mod is the one you pointed, but the download link seems broken on phpBB.com, so you can grab it from the source : http://www.phpbbstyles.com/viewtopic.php?t=...
