Re: Conversion 3.0 to 3.2: most post texts not in XML

Yes, I have found it. Indeed using the CLI you can recode all posts in one stroke. It took about 15 minutes to recode about 90.000 posts. For anyone wanting to know how to do this: (in Windows). Start CMD (command line prompt) Change directory to the phpbb install folder. and then start the reparser...

Re: Conversion 3.0 to 3.2: most post texts not in XML

I used this one: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=14679886#p14679886 When I query the database to see how many posts are correct/incorrect using these statements: SELECT count(*) FROM `phpbb_posts` WHERE left(post_text,1) <> '<' Output: 88853 SELECT count(*) FROM `phpbb_posts` WHERE l...

Re: Conversion 3.0 to 3.2: most post texts not in XML

Is there more info on this "background recoding" ? When is it triggered for instance? When I open a thread, the posts are in plain text. After hours, the post text is not touched at all in the database. It would be nice to re-start the database upgrade on the same version to re-touch the post conten...

Re: Conversion 3.0 to 3.2: most post texts not in XML

Just as an example: An original post text is this (in 3.0): [ngposter:15seqhpc]Mr Doe[/ngposter:15seqhpc] Hi, Please read the description of the new forums before posting. Also make sure to read the attached Newsgroup Guidelines. [ngfile:15seqhpc]Newsgroup Guidelines.pdf[/ngfile:15seqhpc] After conv...

Conversion 3.0 to 3.2: most post texts not in XML

I have a (local) forum, version 3.0.14. I want to upgrade it to 3.2. So I performed the actions from the documentation and converted the database. Now I see that most post texts after conversion in the database are 1:1 compared to the 3.0 version. So, plain text. The texts should be in XML format. C...

Re: [posting] Link to file located in phpbb folder(s)

To save you much hassle for little benefit: just link to them, i.e. [url=http://yourboard.com/path/to/whatever/file.ext]file.ext[/url] Yes indeed. I created a bbCode which now points to the file. It works. unless your home computer/server is actually available on the internet via a domain name and....

[posting] Link to file located in phpbb folder(s)

I'm searching for a simple way to have a link in a post which points to a specific file located on the phpbb forum folder structure. This is the case: By default, attachments are located in the default phpBB\files folder. These links are using attachment ID's and the files themselves have cryptic na...

Re: ForteAgent/Outlook/XML to phpBB 3.2

Thanks for the tip. So I started. Created a local phpbb 3.0 using XAMPP. Running fine. I could install the import messages mod and tested a simple XML file, works perfectly. I created a small tool to convert a text file (the export from the newsreader client) to the needed XML format for import mess...

ForteAgent/Outlook/XML to phpBB 3.2

Hi, I have recently created a phpBB 3.2 forum, works perfectly. In the past I used a newsgroup forum which contains tons of nice messages. Unfortunately this newsgroup is closed many years ago, but I have a "copy" of the forum. I would like to know if there are ways to import the old forum into phpB...
