Re: Best Way To Handle Registrations

My system works fine for me. All registrations have to be accepted by admin, they're held in 'inactive users' and the email associated with the system gets an email when someone new registers. I also use the captcha with a math question to keep out spam. My forum is small so maybe I'd get ten regis...

Email subject line image

I've recently received a couple of Emails notifying me of impending deliveries of orders that I've made. Some of these Emails have a little delivery truck or parcel image in the Email Subject line which looks pretty cool and certainly stands out. Is it possible to do this in 3.2 so that any member o...

Re: Reduce characters displayed on index topic title

Between you you seem to know what needs to be changed why not try writing an extension to do it? https://github.com/david63/david63-trimsubject/archive/3.2.zip Brilliant, thanks, that's one customisation sorted :D Now, can you write Extensions for the following please: An Extension to change the ba...

Re: Reduce characters displayed on index topic title

What if there are no extensions available to make the changes that a Forum owner requires? Then you either create one or request one. But as I mentioned, who is going to create an Extension to do what could easily be done with a very, very simple code edit. Would you really create an Extension to d...

Re: Reduce characters displayed on index topic title

Serious question: Why would anyone even attempt to take on writing an extension to do that when all that is needed is a very simple Edit of a file? Because one of the basic tenets of phpBB 3.1 upwards is that there should not be any core code changes and all changes should be done in a controlled w...

Re: Reduce characters displayed on index topic title

includes/functions_display.php #Line 543 . Only decrease the value 30 . Keep in mind that editing the core files is not recommended, you should request an extension for it. Serious question: Why would anyone even attempt to take on writing an extension to do that when all that is needed is a very s...

Re: [DEV] Thanks for posts

I might be wrong, but the 'THANKS_SUBG' line doesn't 'look' right? That is the name of the template token. It has Subject: {THANKS_SUBG} — "{POST_SUBJECT}" line, As I have already stated, that part that rxu mentioned is exactly as it should be and is correct and can therefore be eliminated from the...

Re: [DEV] Thanks for posts

in what circumstances does it happen? Always or from time to time? Do thanked posts actually has a subject or is it empty? The more details you provide the sooner I can isolate the issue, thanks. Hi rxu, it happens all the time every time. The email content is fine, it's just the title or suject li...

Re: [DEV] Thanks for posts

Original email template is this https://github.com/rxu/thanks_for_posts/blob/develop-3.2.x/language/en/email/user_thanks.txt so what is yours? It has Subject: {THANKS_SUBG} — "{POST_SUBJECT}" line, so "No email subject specified" case shouldn't be possible. I can confirm that even with the correct ...

Re: Have a similar question, is it possible not to display registred users online?

I don't allow 'Guests' on my board, but at the bottom of the Index they could still see the names of those logged in to the Forum which I didn't like. I made a very, very simple edit to the index_body.html file and it works a treat. Now, only logged in Members can see the Online List and 'Guests' do...

Re: [DEV] Thanks for posts

I have this extension up and running with the modifications paulie recommended. And it works fine. But I have several reservations: First, under the user name and avatar the word "thanks" or "thanked" is still present. Not "liked." and in the users profile the word "thanks" is also used. How does t...

Re: [DEV] Thanks for posts

But while you're here, I DL'd the file at Github yesterday (?) but am wondering how this is different from the file Paulie mentioned above. I changed a few files from rxu's original download. I changed the appearance of the block that holds the names of those who liked the post and I changed it's p...

Re: [DEV] Thanks for posts

As an aside, all I was looking for was a really simple 'Like' feature. I 'adapted' rxu's original Extension to look and do exacly what I wanted. I disabled the 'Rating', disabled the 'Toplist' and edited the language files to read 'Liked' instead of 'Thanks'. It works without errors on a live board ...

Not a bug.

Pollbars 1 to 5 is becoming clearer, but almost imperceptible. You can change the background color of the classes to which you want, pollbars 1 to 5 indicates the top 5 most voted options.
Got it. Thank you Vinny :)
