Re: New GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and phpBB

Another forum software I used is adding a feature where people's "personal information" fields like location, age, etc. can be exported by the admin as a simple XML file and also imported back. The idea is to satisfy the right to data portability. Also they changed the logs so that the information a...

Re: XneForo to PHPBB3 3.2 Converter?

This was the only XF to phpBB converter thread that I found. I want it to be known there's still people interested in this converter.

Re: Three features you would like to see in 3.3.

Nope, and it's an asinine platform. I don't recommend it. I've been a big fan of phpBB since around 2004 but I moved to XF back in 2013 because at the time phpBB3 3.1 was taking eons to arrive (we'd been waiting for over 4 years for it) and by that point phpBB 3.0 had become severely outdated compa...

Re: Tapatalk security issue

I have two+ Tapatalk forums because Tapatalk bought Network54 and Yuku (was ezBoard) and I'm currently looking into ways to get my databases out of their clutches. Hearing about security issues like this just makes it more urgent. Might just end up using some sort of scraper to get my content then d...

Re: XneForo to PHPBB3 3.2 Converter?

You could use XF's importers to merge the other phpBB with the Xenforo prior to converting the XF to phpBB3.2 but I'm not sure of the exact conversion/upgrade path you'd need to take. Otherwise there are some businesses out there who specialize in converting forums from one software to another and y...

Re: Questions on moving from hosted forum to own domain/phpBB forum.

If you have the knowledge of how to "merge" the phpbb databases then you should have the knowledge to be able to scrape or otherwise get your data from that company. point is that merging the data from two phpbb databases is very difficult to do successfully. robert That's simply not true. I've use...

Re: Questions on moving from hosted forum to own domain/phpBB forum.

Are there any other ways to get my own stuff from the forum? (without copy-pasting everything?) I finally got through to the managment, but they are only willing to sell me MY OWN DATABASE. (for a hundred dollars!!) I'd prefer if it was legal, or atleast loop-hol-y, if you know what I mean. I mean,...

Re: From RC1 to RC3

I'm having the same problem, sort of. # Error :: Table 'stararmy_forums.forums_styles_imageset_data' doesn't exist SQL :: DROP INDEX i_id ON forums_styles_imageset_data # Error :: Can't DROP 'ath_opt_id'; check that column/key exists SQL :: DROP INDEX ath_opt_id ON forums_acl_roles_data # Error :: T...

Re: Error viewing IP address of poster

It seems to appear with all IP addresses - the addressed look normal.

I'm using a modifed version of 2.0.22 - modcp isn't MODDED that I know of. I'd replace the file, but I'm wondering why this has started when it was fine before. I wonder if there there changes to modcp in the .22 update.

Nice. How about adding "Bots busted" counter to their profile and holding competitions? :D
That'd be cool, but it'd need another database field. Let's keep it simple.

In order for Google to confirm the identity of a webmaster (to enable webmaster tools) they ask you to upload a file to your server's home directory as proof. Basically, it looks he wants to do this but can't because it isn't his webserver (his forums are on one of those ad-supported hosts) and he d...
