Re: Private Discussion on Forum?

Ok, but any workaround to achieve this with the basic setup? Permissions only operate at the forum level, so, no. Ok, thanks for your assistance otherwise i would have spent days to keep trying and finally know this is not possible. :) -- @3Di & John connor, thanks for your suggestions and assuranc...

Re: Private Discussion on Forum?

I'm not sure this is the right software to use for what you want. It's discussion software, designed for multiple people to talk about multiple things in the same place. You're trying to unravel that and make it one on one chats. Why can't those people just PM or email each other? Forum based discu...

Permissions only operate at the forum level, so, no. Ok, but any workaround to achieve this with the basic setup? Currently my only option is to create 1 forum and 3 sub-forums and each sub-forum has 5-10 sub-sub-forums making it a total of 15-30 sub forums and create user groups and allocate indiv...

Re: Private Discussion on Forum?

You should not use user permissions for this. Use groups, even if the group has only one member. Ah, i never thought about this. Its a perfect one and sounds easy too as even non technical admins can make changes to members user group unlike group permissions which is slightly tricky. Also we can c...

Re: Private Discussion on Forum?

Its not a medical forum, i just gave an example. I mentioned patient and doctor without thinking about HIPAA. People are anonymous and so are those who reply. Lets call it an Astrology forum where people provide private details like birth timings etc so only those who raise query to a specific astro...

Private Discussion on Forum?

Hi, i have a query. Lets say we are trying to build a forum where users write personal & private queries like a doctor and patient discussion where only one particular doctor and one particular patient can view the posts (of-course admins can view to monitor quality discussion), is this possible wit...

Re: Fatal error after 3.0 > 3.2 update

I deleted the cache/production folder, browsed to the forum url, and hey! it works. Thanks a million. Rob Same magic worked for me too. The production folder missing brought back the admin page. Was initially shocked to see the admin page reporting error but now much relieved, thanks for posting th...

Re: Cron Executions.

Hi, thanks for all your replies. So can i assume from your replies that Cron being the top visited URL (as shown on the above image) close to double than the "viewtopic.php" is perfectly normal and not abnormal to be worried about? And i have set the "Email package size: 20", and wondering if this i...

Re: Cron Executions.

the cron.php is called on every page view and handles different background tasks (like sending email, prune forums, clear caches ...) Thanks so much for your reply. Do we have an option to optimise cron or the forum in particular to reduce the number of total executions so the excess resource usage...
