You have to link directly to a real image (ending with PNG, GIF, JPG or JEPG). Links to scripts will no longer work for security reasons.

So long as you keep on top of the updates, you should be just fine. The primary reason why most phpBB boards get hacked is because forum administrators don't keep their software up-to-date.

Topic: Why did phpbb encode IPs?

I mean phpbb is built to consume space anyway. It's a forum in case anyone forget. :D Eh, no. It's built to be an efficient forum. It only consumes what space it has to. Hell couple of forum posts are enough to make up for the space lost due to the long IP format ! I don't see the justification for...

OK so I was right about saving space, sort of. But MySQL nowadays are so powerful that the difference whether or not you encode the ip will be minimal, if noticable at all!!!  It's still good pratice to store data in as small of a space as you can get away with. A few bits wasted here ...

Add SMF to the boards that "phone home." Though I think they pull a RSS feed right into the ACP. The advantages of having a board to alert you in the admin panel to new updates are too great to ignore, especially give the already poor record of phpBB users checking for upgrade.

But instead of an answer, I was flamed. I didn't come here to troll, I came here for answers (as well as express my displeasure with one aspect of the upgrade). It's called "feedback" , and it should always be welcome- positive and negative. Your initial post was very confrontational, which many pe...

Topic: How to view MAC address of visitor???

The MAC address is only known to the local line segment and do not route outside of that segment. Once an IP packet passes through the router, the source MAC address is stripped off and replaced by the MAC address of the router's outbound port. Likewise, the destination MAC address, which was previo...

It seems to me that the real problem is that ICANN lacks any real accountably and oversight. Not that there is some sort of pro-American bias in ICANN's policies. The only thing that anyone has been able to point to has been the change fees, which seem to me to be more of a pro-big register bias ins...

The more I look at this debate, the more it appears that the whole issue over ICANN has more to do with the "Politics of Control" over a segment of the Internet then anything else.

Personally I think it's my god given constitional right to be able to drive drunk. The goverment has no right to restrict what I can and can't do. :x :x :x How does this relate to firearms? And where is that "right" specifically enumerated in the Constitution? I think you bolded the wrong half of t...

No, it's because I don't subscribe to the philosophy that the private ownership of firearms is inherently wrong.

Why should the average joe have a gun? Why should the Average Joe have a microwave? Why should the Average Joe have a television? Why should the Average Joe own property instead of renting? Ultimately, the question you are asking is a stupid one. But as to why should the Average Joe have a gun, bec...

I'm not so sure that it will be an improvement. With the UN's recent history of bureaucratic and financial scandals and the fact that the overwhelming majority of the UN representatives are made up of dictatorships seeking to repress information rather then permit the free flow there of, I think you...
