As the poll stands, it's pretty evident that most everyone prefers the second option. And yes, I do think the way that avatars are not "previewed" on the profile before submitting the changes was confusing.

By first setting the forum's permissions to private, then under usergroup permissions, give them access to the forum.

Currently, just prototypes:
  • * Senior Gamemasters
    * Branch Gamemasters
    * Group Gamemasters
    * New Republic Leaders
    * Second Imperium Leaders
    * Independent Leaders
Some will be restricted to certain forums, others will have moderator privileges depending on the forum.

Under Forum Permissions, you have to set one of those categories to private before you can grant specific access to a user or usergroup for that category.

CLee's Questions

Looks like I'm going to keep asking more questions, so I might as well create one topic for all of them instead of creating a topic for each question. :P Can pHpBB use two different databases at the same time, or will this be something I have to modify? Say, one containing just the users, usergroups...

I already know that the config.php file was empty by default. But when I rant install.php, it did not properly write to the config.php file. In fact, it was still empty. :( Once I set the config.php file manually, everything worked. I don't know if this was a permission problem that I overlooked or ...
