There is no Win 2K/XP version of phpBB as phpBB is OS independent. As long as you have a webserver that has PHP support and one of the supported databases, the OS is irrelevent.

It means that the patch utility has not been installed on the server or your host is not allowing you access to patch. You will have to modify the files locally and then upload them back to the server.

Re: Firefox

I think firefox is great although I do think that so many sites only work with IE that it is not yet realistic to use it for everyday browsing. Please tell us which sites don't work in Firefox so that we can start complaining to them. With the current state of technology and standardization, it isn...

Topic: Should paintball be regulated like firearms?

The question at hand is not whether paintball guns are firearms, but should the be treated as such. Legally no, because paintball guns does not have anywhere near the same level of lethality as firearms. Firearms are regulated so much because of their lethality, not because some idiots can use them...

Darth, what I was getting at what that you are far better off spending your time and effort in something where you are likely to get results then in something that won't impede the behavior you are trying to stop and will ultimately annoy everyone else.

GPL doesn't force anyone to share or distribute their MODs, it just sets out the conditions when someone does distribute their MODs.

fire•arm n. A weapon, especially a pistol or rifle, capable of firing a projectile and using an explosive charge as a propellant. So the question is, can a paintball gun really be called a firearm? Considering that it uses compressed air as a propellant instead of an explosive charge. And if it is ...

For some reason, I'm not seeing the words perfect solution in any of the posts in this topic ... However, at some point, the law makes a distinction between juvenile and adult. Who had that wild idea I'll never know. By your reasoning then, 7 year-olds should be allowed to run rampant down the hall...

So you want to restrict paintball guns in order to stop a string of vandalism? Why are strong glues, whiteout, etc. restricted to purchase by those over 18 by Walmart and such? Because they are used to do harm. That doesn't mean that that is their function or that the majority do harm, it simply me...

So you want to restrict paintball guns in order to stop a string of vandalism? By that kind of logic, we should ban baseball bats because of some idiots' tendency to use them to play "mailbox baseball" were one person hangs out the window of a vehicle and uses a baseball bad to whack ever mailbox th...

Why not create your own template that is XHTML compliant? Or use a template that is already XHTML compliant, such as one of Dez's old templates. And the fact that phpBB is not XHTML compliant is not really a bug. It is noncompliant markup that still manages to work as intended. It's not really broke...

Starting at 2.0.8, images where limited to URLs that ended with GIF, JPG, JPEG, and PNG and did not contain any special "scripting" characters such as '?'. This was to prevent a cross scripting exploit that allowed hackers to log people out when they viewed a particular post, and even lock or delete...

One shouldn't be turning on HTML unless there is something that is not provided by BBCode. Also, all HTML tags or BBCode that allows for any kind of scripting to be installed by a poster is dangerous and should generally be avoided.
