Re: "The requested topic does not exist"

Looks like I'm on my own here! A google search on the topic title throws up thousands of instances where the error message shows up, which indicates that it's not uncommon! I've been planning for ages to change board packages after 7 years. Maybe I will (once I've sorted this issue out, of co...

Re: "The requested topic does not exist"

I've cleared all the files in /cache as well - except the index and htaccess files, of course. Still no improvement!

Is this a Permissions issue? No settings have been changed, however, and everything seems normal.

I should add that I find the whole Permissions thing really confusing in the ACP!

Re: "The requested topic does not exist"

Supplementary:

I've just found this thread but although I've used bigdump in exactly the manner described, I don't understand the bit in stevemaury's reply in which he talks about ignoring the "search_*" tables in any new dump.

"The requested topic does not exist"

Hi folks - help required desperately! I've just moved my 6-year-old forums, currently 3.0.5, from 1&1 Internet in Germany to Hostgator. Everything seemed to have gone fine on the faceof it, but when a user clicks to view the contents of a thread all that's displayed is "The requested topic ...

Re: Moving 3.0.5 to new webhost - DB connect problems

Kevin - the problem has now been solved and was - of course - the result of stupidity on my part. The migration of the SQL database from old (current) host to new host resulted in an incomplete upload of the SQL dump file taking place due to time-out/size-out issues. It was only when I did a side-by...

Moving 3.0.5 to new webhost - DB connect problems

Hi - I'm moving my v3.0.5 installation from 1&1 Internet to Hostgator. I've done everything I think I should have done - disabled original (current) board, backed up database using ACP (data+structure), created a new database on Hostgator's "localhost", copied all forum files in their ...

Re: Failure during Auto Update to 3.0.5

That makes sense, Kevin. I'll give it a go.

I've just added a couple of Custom Profile Fields to registration now as well. They seem to be working OK - time will tell! :-)

Thanks

Re: Failure during Auto Update to 3.0.5

Kevin The only mods are Google Adsense code added to viewtopic etc. Would that cause the problem? BTW, I tried running the update via /install/index.php and then selecting the appropriate option. The first bit goes OK with no errors, but it falls over at the DB update stage. Colin PS: I'm just up th...

Failure during Auto Update to 3.0.5

I've updated from 3.0.0 (okay, okay - it took long enough!) to 3.0.4 which went successfully. Now I'm trying to make the final hop to 3.0.5 using the Auto Update package. After doing a complete database ("all") and files backup relating to the 3.0.4 install, I've downloaded the zip package...

Re: 301 redirect

I've just completely changed my whole website and have used a ton of 301's to redirect directories and pages to new locations on the server. I did it by adding lines of code as required to the htaccess file in the server root. Could you not do the same? It doesn't require php. just basic html. Here'...

Re: setting permissions

I have a related problem, except that I've added a new forum and sub-forums to my board and although Admins and Moderators can access all content with all the appropriate permissions I cannot now open the newly-added forum set up to all Registered Users. I've given Standard Access but still it's not...

Re: Not my day locked out of admin panel

If the board is empty, I'd be tempted to delete everything and start from scratch - including ditching the contents of the database. Sounds like an initial install error to me.

Re: Resetting Founder Admin password using phpMyAdmin

It is safe to run the 3.0.0 database upgrade script even though I suspect that it's partially run before (but no confirmation due to either a connection problem or a system hang)? Inspecting the "version" field in the table referred to above shows the content of that field to be "vers...

Re: Resetting Founder Admin password using phpMyAdmin

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll take a deep breath and give it a go!

The database is between 50MB and 60MB in size (I can't check at the moment), and I've never had problems running upgrade scripts before. My host is 1&1 Internet in Europe.
