Re: Setting up RSS feeds

Here's what I learned from a similar question a couple of days ago.

Resetting Founder Admin password using phpMyAdmin

Due to a botched upgrade from RC3 to 3.0.0, I was forced to roll back to RC3 with a database that I can't tell if it's been upgraded or not (or even partially) because the script hung during the upgrade. As a result, I now cannot log in, I'm told my password isn't recognised, and the only way in is ...

RSS Feed for use with phpBB 3.0.0?

When I can get my installation of the Gold release working, I'd like to offer an RSS feed which pulls latest posts or whatever. I know that there was mod available for phpBB2 - is there anything that can be integrated with 3.0.0 yet?

The last time I used that script I set it (as advised) to 30 and the upload completed in somewhere around 22 minutes.

I would leave it a while yet. Too early to quit yet...

Were you getting any status messages in the browser while your were waiting? I can't remember. I would have been using a Mac and I think I just got the spinning wheel. Also, about the code that needs to be added, is the number 20 in minutes or seconds? ini_set('max_execution_time', 20); Minutes.

Re: Login problem

Thanks for the hints. Mine has always been an HTTP redirect. Neither HTTP or FRAME redirection have any effect for me. It's both exasperating and disappointing that this has carried through to the 'stable' release. I agree. What I find particularly frustrating is that my installation of "unsta...

Re: Updating from RC3 to 3.0.0

how about RC4 to 3.0.0? should i just create a new database, install 3.0.0, then restore from the RC4 backup file? If you have no mods and no custom style you just need to replace all files with fresh copies from the 3.0.0 download with the exception of the config.php. Then run the install/database...

Re: Please Help Me To Upgrade My Forum From RC5 to 3.0.0 Stable

Print them out and read them carefully - it's easy to be confused by stuff you don't need to know. I misread something and it's caused an upgrade from RC3 to 3.0.0 to screw up!

Re: Admin password wrong/reset in fresh install?

I'm glad I'm not the only one this is happening to! Two days ago I had to duffer a failed upgrade from RC3 to 3.0.0 Gold and, after reverting to the RC3 fileset after assuming that the database hadn't been upgraded, I now find that I can't login either. However, what's weird is that the other two ad...

Re: Old RC files

When I ran the database_upgrade script it just hung on me. No notifications or progress bar or anything. After about 40 minutes I got angry and gave up.

Re: Convert phpbb2 to phpbb3. Browser times out

I had exactly this problem back in the Summer last when upgrading in the way that you are. I posted a query here and was given this reply which worked a treat. Basically what it does is force the host server to stay open for a specified amount of time until the upload is complete (but you have to gu...

Re: Complete N00b

If you have php-coding skills and can grope your way around SQL using phpMyAdmin or whatever, why not treat phpBB files as your templates and then modify them to your own needs? You'll have to think carefully about the problems that will arise when an update is made available, of course, but that's ...

Re: Delete Install Directory

Or, do what I do and rename it in order that if you have to revert to it for some reason you can rename it back again to Install. Add something cryptic to the name, though, in case somebody attempts to guess it!

Re: Old RC files

I'd be interested to know what problems you are experiencing, as I'm having a nightmare upgrading from RC3 to Gold. After 5 years, I'm about to dump phpBB altogether.
